Description
The Cnet-to-HCU interface consists mainly of an INNIS01 Network Interface Module and an INNPM12 Network Processing Module. These modules are Harmony rack modules that in combination provide a Harmony control unit with access to Control Network (Cnet) in the Symphony Enterprise Management and Control System. The HCU interface provides access to Cnet for all rack controllers in its node.
Applications
Power Industry (Thermal/Wind/Solar)
Applications: Used in plant-wide automation systems to monitor boilers, turbines, and electrical equipment.
Function: Provides stable real-time control and fault diagnosis reports in complex power grid environments.
Oil & Gas/Chemical
Applications: Refinery and chemical plant reactor monitoring, pipeline pressure management, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) integration.
Function: Processes tens of thousands of signal points, enabling refined process management and alarm handling.
Water Treatment and Manufacturing
Applications: Municipal water supply and drainage system control, and discrete and analog hybrid control of large manufacturing lines.
Function: Optimizes production processes and reduces lifecycle maintenance costs through efficient data acquisition and processing.
Excitation Systems
Applications: Used in conjunction with the UNITROL series main control board for excitation control of small and medium-sized synchronous generators and motors.
Features
The Cnet-to-HCU interface has the following features:
• Cnet provides a plant-wide communication network.
• Cnet provides time-synchronization across the control system plant wide.
• Each node can operate independently of other Cnet nodes.
• HCU interface modules provide localized startup and shutdown on power failure without operator intervention.
• Fast response time. The 10-megahertz communication rate gives timely information exchange.
• The INNPM12 module packages process information for maximum transmission efficiency.
• The HCU interface modules handle four message types: broadcast, time-synchronization, multicast, and NIS poll.
Operation
During power up or when a backup INNPM12 module is inserted, the two redundant modules arbitrate for primary and backup roles over Controlway. Once established, the backup module requests a switch setting image from the primary. Further redundancy communication occurs via the NKMP01 redundancy link. Warm failover transfers the primary module’s database to the backup. The new primary broadcasts a warm failover restart, obtains new exception reports, and updates nodes without reestablishing routes. The backup must receive the primary exception route database over the link and be ready for warm failover. The primary database must remain unchanged for 15 seconds before transfer, which can take about three minutes. Changes during transfer abort and restart the process. Updates after readiness are sent immediately if few, or trigger a full reset if many. CPU LEDs indicate readiness: LED seven on means not ready; LED eight on means ready. If the primary fails before readiness, a cold failover occurs, requiring route reestablishment and marking imported points with bad quality until new reports arrive.
