Description
The PDQ22-FBP.0 PROFIBUS DP-V0/V1 FieldBusPlug Quad is a member of the ABB FieldBusPlug family of bus connectors, used to connect FBP devices (such as UMCs) to a PROFIBUS DP network. It can integrate multiple low-voltage devices supporting the FBP protocol (such as motor controllers and soft starters) into a PROFIBUS network, making it a core component for implementing distributed motor control.
Applications
Chemical Plant: Centralized communication for pump sets and mixer motor protection devices.
Cement Plant: Integration of data from multiple soft starters in the conveyor belt system.
Wastewater Treatment Plant: Unified management of the operating status of bar screens and dosing pumps within the MCC cabinet.
Paper Mill: Control of distributed motor units in the refiner and dry wire drive system.
Food Processing Plant: Synchronous monitoring of distributed low-voltage control equipment in various sections of the production line.
Key Features
Data transfer rate: Up to 12 Mbit/s
Certified PROFIBUS user
Protection rating: IP65
Diagnostic LEDs
Type A coded M12 connector
Certifications: CE, CUL
Competitive Advantage
The bus adapter can be separated from the device (motor control center).
The bus node remains operational when changing drawers.
LED status indicators display bus status and information about connected devices.
FAQ
Q: Can the PDQ22-FBP.0 connect to UMC100 devices of different power ratings?
A: Yes. Any device conforming to the FBP protocol, regardless of power rating, can be connected to any of its four ports.
Q: If the PDQ22-FBP.0 module fails, will the four connected motors still operate?
A: The motor’s own protection logic (such as the UMC100) will usually continue to operate, but the PLC will lose communication and will be unable to issue start/stop commands.
Q: How do I set the PROFIBUS station number for the PDQ22-FBP.0?
A: There are two rotary switches (x10 and x1) on the front of the module. These switches allow you to set the station address from 00 to 99.
Q: What is the maximum length of M12 cable supported by the PDQ22-FBP.0 module?
A: To ensure signal quality, it is recommended that the cable length from the FBP slave station to the PDQ22-FBP.0 not exceed 5 meters.
Q: If only two devices are connected to the PDQ22-FBP.0, do the remaining M12 ports need to be plugged?
A: No physical plug is required, but unused channels must be disabled in the PLC configuration software to prevent communication errors.
