Description

The IC693CPU364 is a Controller module from the Series 90-30 product family. This controller is manufactured by GE Fanuc automation featuring One (1) Ethernet interface, 240KB user memory, 80386EX processor with processor speed of 25 MHz and typical scan rate of 0.22 ms per 1K of logic for Boolean contacts.

This controller supports up to 2,048 Discrete inputs, 2,048 Discrete outputs, up to1,280 bits of internal discrete global memory, 4096 internal coils, 256 bits of temporary output coils, Configurable Analog Inputs in 128 word increments from 128 to 16,384 words with Logicmaster software and from 128 to 32,640 words with Control version 2.2 and Analog outputs that are configurable in 128 word increments from 128 to 16,384 words using Logicmaster programming software and 128 to 32,640 words when using Control version 2.2.

The IC693CPU364 is generally referred to as CPU 364. It is a single slot width controller module, with processor type of 80386EX and processor speed of 25 MHz while exhibiting a scan rate of 0.22 ms per 1K of logic for Boolean contacts (typical). It has an embedded user memory amounting to 240KB which may be configured depending on the configured %R, %AI, and %AQ variables and registers. It has One (1) Ethernet communication port for programming and communication. This controller may also be communicated through the built-in RS485 communication port that is installed to the power supply located on the left most slot of the baseplate. This controller supports up to Eight (8) baseplate with One (1) baseplate being the CPU baseplate and Seven (7) being the remote I/O baseplates.

CPU Features

• Software Floating-Point. The CPU364 supports all of the floating-point function blocks that are currently

supported by the CPU352. They are implemented in firmware using floating point emulation in the CPU364.

These Floating-Point math function blocks are described in the IC693 PLC Reference Manual.

• User memory totals 240K bytes. %R, %AI, and %AQ references are configurable up to 16K of %R, 8K of %AI

and 8K of %AQ memory using the MS-DOS PLC programming software, version 9.02 or later. These three

references will be configurable up to 32K in the next release (2.2) of the Windows PLC programming software.

Configuration instructions for this feature are described in the MS-DOS IC693 Programming Software User’s

Manual, and will be included in on-line help in the future release of the Windows PLC Programming Software,

version 2.2.

• A new function block, the Sequential Event Recorder, is available in this module. This function block can be used to record up to 1024 samples of 32 individual discrete (bit) references. This function block is described in the IC693 PLC Reference Manual.

Restrictions and Open Problems

1 Trace LZ

While a local Station Manager “TRACE LZ” troubleshooting command is in effect at an Ethernet Interface, do not issue Station Manager “REM <node> TEST” commands to it from a remote Interface. Doing so can cause errant behavior, including module lockup and loss-of-module in the PLC fault table.

2 Ethernet Firmware Update Mode

When the Ethernet (daughterboard) firmware is in update mode, no fault is logged on the PLC to indicate this. The firmware update mode is indicated by the flashing of the EOK, LAN, and STAT LEDs. The LEDs flash in unison.

3 Multiple Log Events

The Ethernet Interface sometimes generates multiple exception log events and PLC Fault Table entries when a single error condition occurs. Under repetitive error conditions, the exception log and/or PLC Fault Table can be completely filled with repetitive error messages.
