Functional Description
The S200-IR8 S200IR8 is a RTD Input Unit. The 8 analog input signals are connected to the unit via the screw terminal on the terminal base unit.
The inputs are as a group of 8 galvanically isolated from the serial bus by optocouplers. It is possible to deselect unused channels to improve system throughput. Periodic user calibration is supported.
Power for the internal logic is provided via an external power supply.
Applications
Thermal power plants: Monitoring bearing temperature, boiler tube wall temperature, and cooling water system.
Pharmaceutical manufacturing plants: Used in processes requiring extremely high temperature accuracy, such as fermenters and sterilizers.
Food and beverage plants: Monitoring pasteurization lines, cold chain logistics in cold storage, and reactor temperatures.
Petrochemical plants: Multi-point temperature monitoring of distillation columns and heat tracing monitoring of oil pipelines.
Cement processing plants: Rotary kiln bearing protection and thermal parameter acquisition for waste heat power generation systems.
Features
Replacement under system power
CE and UL approvement
Software configurable function
Mechanical coding for safe replacement
Safety function on outputs in remote configuration
Variety of termination options
The same I/O units in central andremote configurations
Compatible with I/O 200C
Troubleshooting
System is running and the adapter active.
The LED OK indicates the general status of 200-IR8 and the status in relation to communication with the application in the controller.
Symptom1
Steady red: Indicating a critical fault
Measure:
Replace the unit.
Symptom2
Flashing red: Indicating a noncritical fault (such as open sensor, input out of range, etc.)
Measure:
1. Check cabling and connectors.
2. Check that correct type is selected in the
hardware configuration.
3. Replace the unit.
Symptom3
Flashing green: Indicating that the unit is functional but not configured
Measure:
1. Start the program to configure the unit.
2. Check the program.
3. Replace the unit.
FAQ
Q1: Can the S200-IR8 S200IR8 connect to a thermocouple (TC)?
No. It is designed for resistance sensors (RTDs). For thermocouple connections, please use the S200-IT8 module.
Q2: Why is my Pt100 reading a few degrees higher than the actual value on the S200-IR8 S200IR8?
Please check if you are using a 2-wire connection. If so, the module cannot compensate for cable resistance; we recommend using a 3-wire or 4-wire connection.
Q3: Can the S200-IR8 S200IR8 module automatically identify the sensor type?
No. You must manually configure the sensor specification (e.g., Pt100 or Ni100) for each channel in the control software (such as Control Builder).
Q4: Should a channel on the S200-IR8 S200IR8 be shorted if it is not in use?
Short-circuiting is usually not required, but we recommend setting it to "disabled" in the software configuration to avoid disconnection alarms.
Q5: Can I directly unplug the S200-IR8 S200IR8 module while the system is running?
Yes, as long as it is installed on a hot-swappable terminal block, but the eight temperature points corresponding to the module will lose monitoring during the unplugging process.
