Description
ABB PDP800 DP-V2 is a high-performance Profibus DP V0/V1/V2 Master Module. The module enables the connection of Symphony Plus controllers to S800 I/O via PROFIBUS DPV2. S800 I/O provides options for all signal types, ranging from basic analog and digital inputs and outputs to pulse counters and intrinsically safe applications. S800 I/O sequence of events functionality is supported by PROFIBUS DP V2 with 1 msec accuracy event time stamping occurring at the source. Additionally, the module supports Symphony Plus controllers' connectivity to S+ Turbine's specialty modules. Specifically, via PROFIBUS DP V2, the HPC800 can support powerful turbine control solutions for turbine protection (TP800), valve positioning (VP800), generator auto synchronization (AS800) and condition monitoring (MCM800).
Applications
Power plants: Synchronizing data from multiple power units in the excitation system (UNITROL 6000).
Steel mills: High-precision synchronous control for multi-axis rolling mills.
Paper mills: Coordinating the linear speeds of various drive systems in paper machines.
Aluminum electrolysis plants: Distributed control networks for large rectifier cabinets.
Precision machining plants: Distributed node communication for complex motion control systems.

FAQ
Q: Does the PDP800 DP-V2 support common PROFIBUS DP-V1 devices?
A: Yes. DP-V2 is backward compatible with V0 and V1 protocols, but for synchronization, the slave station must also support V2.
Q: What does the flashing BF light on the PDP800 DP-V2 module panel mean?
A: Flashing usually indicates that the module is configured correctly but cannot connect to other devices on the bus. Please check the cable or baud rate settings.
Q: Does the PDP800 DP-V2 module require a separate GSD file?
A: Yes. When used in non-ABB master systems, the corresponding GSD configuration file must be imported for the module to be recognized.
Q: Why must the DP cable connector for the PDP800 DP-V2 be a model with a terminating resistor?
A: If the resistor is not matched at the end of the bus, signal reflections may occur, causing the entire network communication to fail. This is a basic requirement of the PROFIBUS physical layer.
Q: Can the PDP800 DP-V2 be replaced while the system is running?
A: This module supports hot-swapping, but since it may cause a brief interruption of bus communication, it is recommended to perform replacement in a stopped state or use it in a redundant system.
