Description

IS230SNRTH2A IS200SRTDH2ACB is a compact RTD terminal board manufactured and designed by General Electric. It is a part of the Mark Vle Series control system. The board stands as a specialized compact RTD terminal board, meticulously designed to be mounted either on a DIN-rail or a flat surface. The board is equipped with eight RTD inputs, providing a means to connect multiple RTDs, which are essential sensors for measuring temperature based on electrical resistance. The SRTD board connects to either the PRTD (Proportional RTD) or VRTD (Voltage RTD) I/O processor, forming an integral part of the system. It interfaces with the processor through high-density Euro-block type terminal blocks that are securely mounted onto the board.

Applications

Power plants (core application: monitoring generator stator, bearing, and turbine temperatures)
Nuclear power plants (for high-reliability thermal monitoring and control systems)
Chemical plants (monitoring process temperatures in reactors, heat exchangers, and distillation columns)
Oil refineries (precision temperature acquisition for atmospheric and vacuum distillation units and hydrocracking units)
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants (multi-point temperature monitoring in cryogenic environments)
Steel plants (temperature monitoring of blast furnace cooling systems and power stations)

Features

A. Compatibility with Mark Vle Systems: In Mark Vle systems, the PRTD I/O pack collaborates seamlessly with the SRTD board. The I/O pack interfaces via a DC-37 pin connector and establishes communication with the controller through Ethernet connectivity. It's important to note that only simplex systems are supported, allowing for unidirectional communication or data flow

B. On-Board Identification Chip: An ID chip integrated onto the board serves the purpose of identifying the board to the I/O processor. This identification aids in system diagnostics, enabling the processor to recognize and manage the SRTD board efficiently

C. The board serves as a crucial component in temperature sensing and control systems, offering multiple RTD inputs and seamless compatibility with specific I/O processors, aiding in accurate temperature measurement and management within industrial setups

D. The PRTD I/O pack, when connected to the SRTD board, engages in communication with the controller via Ethernet, transmitting vital temperature-related data from the RTD inputs. This collaboration facilitates temperature monitoring and control within the system. The simplex system support ensures that the communication flow remains unidirectional, maintaining the system's reliability and simplicity

Installation

A. Chassis Ground Connection: E1 and E2 are mounting holes for the chassis ground screw (SCOM), ensuring proper electrical safety and grounding.

B. I/O Cable Shield Terminal: The I/O cable shield uses an external bracket from GE or the customer for secure mounting and shield integrity.

C. Mounting Options: The SRTD and insulator can be mounted on a DIN rail or bolted to a sheet metal assembly in a cabinet, offering installation flexibility.

D. Mounting the Components: The SRTD and insulator attach securely to the carrier or assembly, ensuring stability during operation.

E. Unused Terminals: Terminals 25–34 on the Euro-style terminal block remain unconnected in standard setup.

F. Wiring Setup: Eight RTDs connect to the 36-terminal Euro-style block using 18 AWG shielded twisted triplets for accurate temperature readings.

Operation

A. Distance and Cable Resistance Limits: Supports up to eight RTDs located up to 300 meters from the turbine control cabinet with a maximum two-way cable resistance of 15 ohms

B. Excitation Current for RTDs: Supplies a multiplexed 10 mA DC excitation current to each RTD, configurable as grounded or ungrounded

C. Linearization and RTD Type Selection: The PRTD processor linearizes 15 RTD types, ensuring accurate temperature measurement and calibration

D. Noise Suppression and Signal Integrity: On-board noise suppression maintains signal stability and minimizes interference during temperature measurement

E. RTD Inputs and Signal Processing: RTD signals are received and processed through the terminal board as illustrated in the system diagram

F. Signal Sampling and Processing by PRTD Pack: The A/D converter samples each RTD signal and excitation current four times per second in normal mode and 25 times per second in fast mode
