Description
A DC 16-Circuit Source/Sink I/O Block is an intelligent, configurable block that can interface to a wide range of discrete DC sensors and actuators. There are two DC 16-circuit source blocks, which provide current to field output devices: 24 VDC Source block (IC660BBD022), for use with 2-wire and 3- wire solid state sensors and electromechanical sensors.

Features
DC 16-Circuit Source/Sink I/O Blocks have 16 discrete circuits, each easily configured to be an input, tristate input, or output. Output circuits can be connected directly to input circuits without the use of other components or inversion of logic states. Control power is tapped off the input/output device voltages wired to the terminals. No separate block power supply is needed.

Diagnostics
1 The block performs standard checks and two configurable output diagnostics, reporting faults to the Handheld Monitor and taking corrective action
2 Short Circuit Diagnostic If current exceeds 10 Amps at turn-on, the output shuts off. Two failed restart attempts force the output off and send a SHORT CIRCUIT message. Clear after removing the cause
3 Overtemperature Diagnostic If internal temperature exceeds 100ºC, the block sends an OVERTEMPERATURE message and shuts off the circuit
4 Open Wire Diagnostic Detects electrical faults on tristate inputs. Requires a non-inductive resistor near dry contacts
5 Overload Diagnostic If enabled, output shuts off and sends OVERLOAD message when load exceeds 2.8 Amps DC for 10ms. Loads over 2 Amps DC can be configured to ignore this limit
