Description
IC200BEM003 is a PROFIBUS-DP (Master) Module from the GE Fanuc Versamax Series. This network style master module allows a Versamax CPU005, ProfitNet Scanner, or CPUE05 to receive and send data on a Profibus-DP network. This specific master module features numerous Profibus communication options with support for all standard data rates and sync/freeze modes. With a maximum support of 3,584 bytes of input or output data, the IC200BEM003 supports DP-V1 read, write, and alarm messages with ease. Any necessary firmware updates are received indirectly from the host controller using the WinLoader software utility.
Applications
Automotive manufacturing plants: Connect multiple robot control boxes, welding workstations, and frequency converter transmission systems.
Food and beverage processing plants: Used to integrate multiple marking machines, weighing instruments, and sensor networks on packaging lines.
Large metallurgical and steel plants: Serve as a distributed control center, managing remote I/O stations (such as Series 90-30 or VersaMax stations) distributed across various workshops.
Packaging/printing plants: Act as distributed nodes in high-speed rotating or multi-process equipment, exchanging control commands in real time.
Features
Supports all standard data rates
Supports a maximum of 3,584 bytes of input data and 3,584 bytes of output
data with a VersaMax CPU; a maximum of 1440 bytes of input data and 1440
bytes of output data with a PNs.
Supports a maximum of 125 PROFIBUS-DP slaves, with a maximum of 244
bytes of input data and 244 bytes of output data for each slave
Supports Sync and Freeze modes
Supports DP-V1 Read, Write and Alarm messages
Has PROFIBUS-compliant module and network status LEDs
This module must be located in a VersaMax Communications Carrier.
The PROFIBUS module receives its firmware upgrades indirectly from the head end CPU or PNS using the WinLoader software utility. WinLoader is supplied with any updates to the PROFIBUS module software.
Installation in Hazardous Areas
The following information is for products bearing the UL marking for Hazardous Locations or ATEX marking for explosive atmospheres:
1 Equipment labeled with reference to ClassI, Groups A, B, C & D, Div.2 hazardous locations is suitable for use in ClassI, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D or non-hazardous locations only
2 Eauipment labeled with Ex Il 3 G is suitable for use in Group 2 Category 3 environments
3 Warning-Explosion hazard-substitution of components may impair suitability for ClassI Division 2
4 Warning-Explosion hazard-when in hazardous locations, turn off power before replacing or wiring modules; and
5 Warning-Explosion hazard-do not disconnect equipment unless power has been switched off or the area is known to be nonhazardous
6 Warning-Explosion hazard-USB port is only for use in nonhazardous locations, do not use unless area is known to be non-hazardous
Diagnostic Status Arrays
1 The starting addresses are set in hardware configuration. Refer to “Diagnostics" in VersaMax PROFIBUS Master User's Manual GFK-2740 for memory mapped COMMREQs
2 Slave Status Bit Array: 128-bit array with one bit per slave. Bit is set if communication is normal, cleared if errors occur. Master also has its own status bit
3 Slave Diagnostics ID Array: First word shows address of first slave with diagnostics. Use Get Device Diagnostics COMMREQ (command 4) to read and clear. Second word is reserved (0)
4 DPV1 Alarm Status Array: 32-bit array that records the address of a slave sending a DPV1 alarm. Additional alarms wait until processed
5 Slave Configured Bits: 128-bit array indicating configured slaves. Address = Start Address + Station Address
6 Slave Diagnostic Bits: 128-bit array indicating slaves with diagnostics. Read via Get Device Diagnostics COMMREQ (command 4)
FAQ
Q: What is an IC200BEM003?
A: IC200BEM003 is a PLC Network Communications PROFIBUS-DP (Master) Module from the GE Fanuc Versamax Series.
Q: What does IC200BEM003 do for the Versamax system?
A: This module operates as a master on a Profibus network. Master devices are able to control the bus. When the module has the right to access the bus, the master may transfer messages as it desires.
Q: How does the IC200BEM003 relate to the master?
A: This module can exchange 3584 bytes of input data or 3584 bytes of output data with a Versamax CPUx05.
Q: What is required for the IC200BEM003?
A: The IC200BEM003 requires an IC200CHS006 Communications Carrier.
Q: What do the LEDs of an IC200BEM003 indicate?
A: The LEDs indicate the presence of power and show the network communications status of the module.
