Description

The 125840-02 Low Voltage AC Power Input Module is designed for 3500 rack automation and machinery protection systems. The 125840-02 accepts 110 Vac nominal input with a range of 85–132 Vac rms and 120–188 Vac peak, operating at 47–63 Hz. Installed as a special half-height module behind the associated power supply, 125840-02 supports full rack current draw up to 4.5 A rms.

In automation cabinets, 125840-02 converts low voltage AC into regulated rack input for monitoring and protection modules. The 125840-02 includes under-voltage tolerance without damage and fuse protection for over-voltage conditions. Operating temperature ranges from −30 °C to +65 °C, with storage from −40 °C to +85 °C and 95% non-condensing humidity.

Certified to EN 61010-1 and approved for CSA/NRTL/C and ATEX hazardous areas, 125840-02 is used in turbine, compressor, and pump control panels. No minimum rack load is required, allowing flexible rack configuration in industrial automation systems.

Applications

Supply power to 3500 rack protection systems

The 125840-02 provides AC input for the 3500 machinery protection rack. The 125840-02 accepts 110 Vac nominal power with an operating range of 85–132 Vac rms at 47–63 Hz. Installed directly behind the rack power supply, 125840-02 feeds monitoring modules measuring vibration, position, and speed without requiring external converters.

Provide backup source in dual power configuration

When two rack power supplies are installed, the 125840-02 supports primary and backup arrangements. The lower supply acts as the main source while the upper supply remains available for automatic takeover. With a full rack current draw up to 4.5 A rms, 125840-02 keeps protection modules energized during a single supply loss.

Install in hazardous area control cabinets

The 125840-02 meets EN 61010-1 and carries CSA/NRTL/C and ATEX approvals. It is used in compressor skids, turbine enclosures, and refinery monitoring cabinets where explosive gas zones require certified rack power input modules.

Maintain monitoring during voltage fluctuation

The 125840-02 tolerates under-voltage without damage and includes an internal fuse for over-voltage events. Automation cabinets connected to field generators or long cable runs use 125840-02 to keep monitoring systems powered even when incoming AC varies within 85–132 Vac.

Specifications

Low Voltage Directives:

Rack Space Requirements

Special half-height module located directly behind the associated power supply.

Miscellaneous Minimum Loading:

No minimum rack load is required.

Competitive Advantage

Operates without minimum rack load during staged installation

The 125840-02 requires no minimum rack loading, so a rack can start with only one monitoring card and expand to a full configuration. Even at the maximum rack current draw of 4.5 A rms, 125840-02 continues supplying the rack without needing dummy loads or external resistors.

Wide AC input range supports field power conditions

The 125840-02 accepts 85–132 Vac rms and 120–188 Vac peak at 47–63 Hz. This allows the 125840-02 to operate from generator-fed panels, long cable feeders, and plant utility buses where measured voltage often drops near 90 Vac during motor starting.

Continuous operation in outdoor cabinets

Rated −30 °C to +65 °C operating temperature and −40 °C to +85 °C storage, the 125840-02 can remain installed in turbine enclosures and compressor shelters without heaters. The 125840-02 also tolerates 95% non-condensing humidity, supporting installation in coastal and refinery environments.

Integrated over voltage shutdown protection

If the input rises above 132 Vac rms, the internal fuse in 125840-02 opens to isolate the rack. This prevents excess input energy from reaching monitoring modules, eliminating the need for separate protective disconnect devices.

Compact rear slot installation saves rack space

The 125840-02 mounts in a dedicated half-height slot behind the power supply, so all front rack positions remain available for monitoring modules. Using 125840-02, a full rack of protection cards can be installed while still supporting up to 4.5 A rms load.
