Description
The Honeywell TA3840C is a communication unit used in tanker and ship cargo monitoring and loading/unloading systems. It is a core component of the Honeywell Enraf Marine Fixed Gauging System and is often used in conjunction with the TA3840S safety unit to centrally process and transmit various critical monitoring data from the ship's cargo holds.
Applications
Oil Refining Plants: High-capacity radar monitoring for centralized tank level supervision across refinery storage areas.
Crude Oil Pipeline Transport: Flexible multi-serial communication supports distributed pumping stations along long-distance pipelines.
Fine Chemical Plants: High-density analog input collection integrates pressure, temperature, and valve position signals.
LNG Terminals: Multi-channel alarm monitoring enables fast safety interlocking for cryogenic storage and gas detection systems.
Coal Chemical & Slurry Plants: Digital I/O supports valve feedback and coordinated pump start-stop safety control.
Special Features
Rack size: 19" 3U (483 x 132 x 185mm)
3 x relay output: (COM, NO, NC) for supply fault,
data alarm and system faults.
Remote display with full indication.
Dedicated menus for system maintenance and Commissioning.
Combined board can be used when there is few
4-20mA inputs such as inclinometer, draft …
OPERATION
Check that the main supply indicator (D) is lit.
Check that the indicator (E) is lit if there are analog 4-20 mA transmitters.
Switch the power on by pushing the On/Off switch (F):
- The 5 Vdc indicator (G) lights on,
- The self-test of the system is carried out (screen, indicators, relays...),
- The starting message giving the software version appears during a few seconds, then the first page of the main screen is displayed on the LCD display.
Check that the Rx/Tx "Communication" indicators (H) flash according to the actual links (outer monitoring).
Check that the Rx/Tx "Sensors port" indicators (I) flash.
