Description

IS200TVIBH2BCC is a Vibration Input Terminal Board manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VI Series used in GE Speedtronic Turbine Control Systems. The Vibration Input (TVIB) terminal board accepts up to 14 vibration probes, two of which can be cabled directly to the VVIB board. VVIB processes and digitizes the displacement and velocity signals, which are then sent over the VME bus to the controller. The Mark VI system uses Bently Nevada probes for shaft vibration monitoring. The following vibration probes are compatible with TVIB:

Proximity

Velocity

Acceleration

Seismic

Phase

There are two variants of TVIB terminal boards: the H1A and H2A. The H2A board is equipped with BNC connectors, enabling the connection of portable vibration data collection equipment for predictive maintenance. Both types allow for permanent connection to Bently Nevada vibration monitoring equipment via connectors, which are used for measuring and analyzing turbine vibration. Within the Mark VI system, the TVIB board operates alongside the VIB processor and is compatible with both simplex and TMR configurations. In simplex setups, two cables connect two TVIBs to the VVIB processor, while in TMR systems, three cables link the TVIB to three separate VVIB processors.

Applications

Heavy Power Generation: Large gas turbine and steam turbine generator sets.

Oil & Gas: Large centrifugal compressors and pump sets for offshore drilling platforms or refineries.

Renewable Energy: Mechanical health monitoring for large hydroelectric generators and wind power facilities, supporting predictive maintenance strategies.

INSTALLATION

Attach the wires from the 14 vibration probes to the two terminal blocks, with each probe using three wires. In simplex systems, connect the TVIB1 JR1 connector to the WIB J3 connector on the VME rack, and connect the TVIB JR1 connector to WIB J4. For TMR systems, connect the VVIB JR1, JS1, and JT1 connectors to the R, S, and T VIB processors. Use jumpers JP1 through JP8 to set the probe type for the first eight probes. Optionally, connect the TVIB to a Bently Nevada system via connectors JA1, JB1, JC1, and JD1.

OPERATION

TVIB is compatible with Bently Nevada's Proximitor, Seismic, Accelerometer, and Velomitor probes, with power supplied to these probes from VVIB boards in both simplex and TMR modes. Probe signals return to VVIB, where they are A/D converted and sent via the VME bus to the controller, which generates vibration, eccentricity, axial position alarms, and trip logic. A -28 V dc supply from the VME board powers Proximitor probes, and in TMR configurations, a diode high-select circuit ensures redundancy by selecting the highest -28 V dc bus. Individual regulators provide protected excitation sources ranging from -23 to -26 V dc, while VIB samples probe inputs at high speed over set intervals.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is the IS200TVIBH2BCC TVIB terminal board powered in simplex and TMR systems?

In both simplex and TMR configurations, power for the vibration probes is provided by the VVIB boards. Additionally, a -28 V DC supply from the VME board powers the Proximitor probes.

What is the purpose of the BNC connectors on the H2A TVIB board of IS200TVIBH2BCC ?

The H2A board includes BNC connectors to allow portable vibration data-gathering equipment to be connected for predictive maintenance.

How does the IS200TVIBH2BCC TVIB terminal board connect in a simplex setup?

In simplex systems, TVIB1 connects to the VIB J3 port, and the main TVIB connects to VVIB J4 on the VME rack.
