Description
The IS200EDEXG1ADA is an Exciter De-Excitation board manufactured and designed by GE as part of the EX2100 Series used in Excitation Control Systems.
The EDEX board is the main board in the de-excitation module. EDEX provides de-excitation SCR firing, conduction sense feedback, and voltage retention to ensureoperation in the event of a power failure. EMIO initiates de-excitation on the EXTB board.
The EXTB board opens the 41 dc contactor (41A/41B) or breaker, and then transfers de-excitation signals from the auxiliary contacts to SCR firing circuits on the EDEX. There are two types of EDEX.
Group 1 board is designed for SCR de-excitation, Group 2 is designed for diode de-excitation.
During any shutdown, the energy stored in the generator field must be dissipated.
In a normal shutdown, a stop is initiated by an operator. The bridge is fired at retard limit and sufficient time is allowed for the field to decay before the field contactors are opened. During an abort stop (trip), the field contactors are opened immediately.
The stored field energy must be dissipated through some other means.
SCR De-excitation Module (EDEX)
For customers requiring a rapid de-excitation, an SCR de-excitation module is provided.
In the EDEX module, an SCR is fired to provide a conduction path through the field discharge resistor (or inductor) for the field current to flow and dissipate the field energy.
Feature
This control board is primarily used for the management of industrial gas turbines and steam turbines, and is a core component of the control system. Its key features include:
Demagnetization Control: As the main unit in the demagnetization module and crowbar module, it transmits demagnetization signals via a SCR trigger circuit.
High-Density Design: Employing a 16-channel design optimizes rack space for the control system.
Signal Integration: Allows for seamless integration of additional digital signals, expanding the system's capacity and functionality.
Feedback and Monitoring: Provides voltage holding and conduction sensing feedback functions, and includes diagnostic features to track processing status and system health in real time.

FAQ
1.What are the procedures for shutting down the IS200EDEXG1ADA board?
The IS200EDEXG1ADA board has two methods for shutdown. The first method is a routine shutdown, which involves an operator-initiated stop. During this process, the bridge is activated at its retard limit, providing enough time for the field to gradually diminish before the field contactors are opened. The second method is an emergency abort stop, where the field contactors are immediately disengaged without any delay.
2.Can more than one EDEX module be connected?
Certainly! It is feasible to link multiple de-excitation modules with a single EDEX board set up as the Master, while the additional de-excitation modules are designated as Slave units. When more than one module is connected in this manner, a firing control signal is transmitted to the Master module, which then forwards it to the Slave modules, ensuring that all modules fire at the same time.
