Description
The SD Series HPC800 is a high-performance, high-capacity process controller that is used to support the plant’s total control requirements, from discrete and continuous, to advanced control applications. The HPC800’s controller environment executes demanding process control applications that are both data and program intensive. Simultaneously, the HPC800 connects to DIN-rail mounted SD Series and S800 I/O modules, as well as traditional Rack I/O modules.
Applications
Large thermal power plants: Used for unit coordination control, water treatment, and desulfurization and denitrification process control.
Oil and chemical refineries: Build SIL3-level emergency shutdown systems (ESD) or critical production line interlocks.
Pharmaceutical plants: Manage HVAC systems and aseptic filling lines to meet GMP real-time data tracking requirements.
Large paper mills: Control complex paper machine production lines and pulp preparation logic.
Steel and iron metallurgical plants: Control continuous casting machine cooling water flow to ensure consistent steel quality.
Competitive Advantage
The ABB HC800 is the core processor of the Symphony Plus platform, offering high-performance control for fast execution of complex industrial algorithms. It supports large-scale I/O expansion and uses over 150 predefined function blocks in S+Engineering for continuous, sequential, batch, and advanced control strategies.
The HC800 supports redundant CPU configuration for high availability. If the main CPU fails, the backup takes over automatically to reduce downtime. It also supports PROFIBUS DP, HART, and Modbus TCP/IP for seamless industrial communication and device integration.
In addition, the HC800 supports S+HART I/O, Harmony rack I/O, and S800 I/O systems. Through the redundant HN800 bus, it can connect up to 64 I/O and communication modules, providing strong scalability and flexibility.
FAQ
Q: What devices does the HC800 primarily control?
A: It acts as the brain, controlling transmitters, actuators, motor control centers (MCCs), and various valves.
Q: Does a module failure in the HC800 require downtime for replacement?
A: With hot standby redundancy, faulty modules can be replaced online without affecting process operation.
Q: How many expansion modules can the HC800 connect to?
A: It supports up to 256 local or remote I/O module expansions.
Q: Which programming languages does the HC800 support?
A: It supports ladder diagrams, function block diagrams, structured text, and C language programming.
Q: Does the HC800 module have special heat dissipation requirements?
A: It can dissipate heat naturally below 55°C, but forced ventilation is recommended in extreme environments up to 70°C.
