1 The Mark IV's hardware was created with a number of goals in mind. One of them called for a base design that, with the exception of removing or adding an extra card, module, or connection, could satisfy 95% of the hardware requirements of the customer panel. This goal was to ensure that the software setup could accommodate the needs of the client.

2 Although the design passed the test of being evaluated against previous requirements, only time will tell how successfully future customer needs can be met.

3 The ability to service the panel while the turbine is operating was another key objective. Significant effort was invested in developing a configuration that allows most components to be replaced quickly and safely while the panel remains powered and running. As a result, modules containing the majority of active components—those most likely to fail—are located behind the front doors.
