Description
The 990 Vibration Transmitter, model 990-10-XX-01-05 MOD: 163930-01, is a precision two-wire, loop-powered vibration monitoring device specifically designed for industrial automation and rotating machinery applications. Engineered for OEM installations in centrifugal air compressors, small pumps, motors, and fans, this transmitter converts input from a 3300 NSv proximity probe and extension cable into a proportional 4 to 20 mA vibration signal for machinery control systems. The transmitter supports full-scale vibration ranges of 0–10 mils peak-to-peak (0–250 μm pp) with linear output from 0.25 to 1.65 mm (10–65 mils) for Prox Out, and is compatible with system lengths up to 5 meters (16.4 feet). Designed for harsh environments, it operates reliably between -35°C and +85°C and withstands storage temperatures from -52°C to +100°C, with potted construction protecting against high humidity and condensation. With DIN rail or bulkhead mounting options and multiple agency approvals including CSA Division 2, ATEX Zone 0 and Zone 2, and ABS maritime approval, the 990 Vibration Transmitter offers robust, accurate, and flexible monitoring solutions in tight installation spaces typical of centrifugal compressors. Features include integrated Proximitor Sensor, non-isolated PROX OUT and COM terminals, non-interacting zero and span potentiometers for easy loop adjustment, test input for quick signal verification, and a Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit to prevent false alarms due to probe faults or loose connections.
Applications
Radial Vibration Monitoring in Air Compressors
Provides accurate peak-to-peak vibration measurement from 0–10 mils (0–250 μm) using 3300 NSv proximity probes, enabling condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance in centrifugal air compressors.
Small Motor and Pump Protection
Integrates with 4–20 mA machinery control systems to monitor vibration levels in small pumps and motors, preventing mechanical failure due to imbalance or misalignment.
OEM Machinery Integration
Designed for OEM installations requiring a compact, two-wire loop-powered transmitter with DIN rail mounting, simplifying integration into new equipment while reducing installation complexity.
Dynamic Diagnostics and Signal Output
Non-isolated PROX OUT and COM terminals provide real-time gap voltage and dynamic vibration signals for diagnostics, allowing engineers to verify equipment condition without removing the sensor.
High-Humidity and Harsh Environment Operation
Potted construction allows operation in environments with up to 100% condensing humidity, providing reliable performance in marine, process, or industrial facilities with extreme moisture or temperature variations.

Competitive Advantage
Integrated Proximitor Sensor
Eliminates the need for an external unit, reducing space requirements and simplifying installation in constrained areas typical of centrifugal compressors and small machinery.
Robust Signal Conditioning
Converts raw proximity probe data into stable 4–20 mA signals with output impedance of 10 kΩ (calibrated for 10 MΩ load), ensuring accurate and consistent vibration readings across the control system.
Loop-Powered Simplicity
Requires only +12 to +35 Vdc and 23 mA typical current, supporting easy integration into existing two-wire control loops without additional power sources.
High Reliability and Safety Features
Includes Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit to prevent false alarms, non-interacting zero and span potentiometers, and test input functionality, ensuring reliable operation and simplified maintenance.
Certified for Global Industrial Use
Holds CSA Division 2, ATEX Zone 0 and Zone 2 approvals, plus ABS maritime certification, providing compliance for international applications in industrial, marine, and hazardous environments.
