Description

The DS200LDCCH1AKA is a drive control and local area network (LAN) communications board developed by General Electric. It was designed for GE's Mark V Turbine Control System series of drive boards. This card is compatible with GE DIRECTO-MATIC 2000 exciters and drives.

Onboard microprocessors provide various interfacing capabilities, including LAN communications, drive resets, motor and drive processing, and operator interface.

The Mark V Series is also one of the final General Electric Mark product series to incorporate their patented Speedtronic control system technology.

The DS200LDCCH1AKA is not the original product for its specific functionality within the Mark V Series; the DS200LDCCH1 parent board lacks its three significant product revisions.

Application

Large power plants: In power generation facilities based on large gas turbines such as the GE Frame 7 or Frame 9 series, this board handles complex local area network communications, ensuring data synchronization between the control processor and sensors and actuators distributed throughout the plant.

Oil and gas processing plants: Used to control turbines driving large compressors or pump sets, in these plants where the system's "triple redundancy (TMR)" architecture relies on such communication boards to maintain seamless data exchange.

Heavy industrial sites: In self-contained power plants or large machinery drive scenarios, this board helps optimize turbine control, reduce downtime, and improve production efficiency.

Hardware Tips

Four microprocessors are integrated onto the board to cover I/O and drive control settings:

LAN Control Processor (LCP): Accepts and converts five different bus systems.

Drive Control Processor (DCP): Controls peripheral I/O devices (e.g., timers, encoders) and converts analog/digital I/O.

Motor Control Processor (MCP): Processes I/O communications and motor control circuits.

Co-Motor Processor (CMP): Provides additional processing power if the MCP's power is insufficient.

An alphanumeric keypad is attached for easy access to onboard system diagnostics and settings.

The board includes numerous voltage limitation components (capacitors, resistors, integrated circuits), each with a factory-printed nomenclature label.

The base circuit board is protected by a special conformal style of PCB surface coating.

For diagnostics, the board features several diagnostic testpoints and a singular RESET button.

It has a less-common communicative LED keypad display and several DN1 bar graph LEDs.

PROMs (Programmable Read-Only Memory) store onboard software:

Six flash PROM components store configuration data.

The EEPROM contains field-adjustable parameters.

Reset options include:

A pushable RESET pushbutton for fatal functional faults.

Soft resets achievable through programming alteration or a Mark V Series Programmer Module's reset key.

A stab connection is available for LAN interface board stiffening in high-noise environments.

Installation

Review provided installation parameters before removing the device from its shipping container. A complete wiring and installation guide is available in the corresponding series manual and datasheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What manual is used with DS200LDCCH1AKA?
A: The manual used with DS200LDCCH1AKA is Manual GEH-100216. This is the GE Motors and Industrial Systems Drive Control/LAN Communications Board Manual, which provides guidance on installation, operation, maintenance, and general information, although it does not cover every detail of the board.

Q: Where does DS200LDCCH1AKA store onboard software?
A: DS200LDCCH1AKA stores onboard software in memory chips, specifically six flash PROMs: U6, U7, U11, U12, U22, and U23. These PROMs contain configuration data and firmware required for operation.

Q: How does DS200LDCCH1AKA control LAN communication?
A: DS200LDCCH1AKA controls LAN communication through its LAN Control Processor (LCP). The LCP manages communication functions and provides both isolated and non-isolated input circuits.
