Description
991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter is a 2-wire loop-powered axial position monitoring device used in rotating machinery automation systems. 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter accepts one 3300 NSv proximity probe and extension cable and converts shaft movement within a 0.6-0-0.6 mm thrust range into a 4–20 mA control signal for PLC or DCS input cards.
Powered by +12 to +35 Vdc, 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter supports up to 1,000 Ω loop resistance and limits current to about 23 mA. The 5.0 m system length allows probe installation at the thrust bearing while the DIN-rail mounted transmitter stays inside the cabinet. Operating temperature −35°C to +85°C enables installation on compressor skids, pumps, and motor frames.
The Prox Out BNC port of 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter provides gap voltage and dynamic signal with a 10 kΩ output impedance and up to 3 m leadwire distance. With a 0.25–1.65 mm linear measurement region, 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter continuously reports shaft axial position to automation protection logic and shutdown systems.
Applications
Connect to DCS axial position input channel
991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter sends a 4–20 mA signal directly to a DCS analog input card. When shaft movement changes by 0.1 mm, the output current shifts proportionally within the loop, allowing operators to trend thrust position in the control room instead of relying on periodic manual measurement.
Monitor steam turbine thrust bearing clearance
In steam turbines, thrust collar movement is often less than 0.5 mm before mechanical contact. Using the 0.6 mm measurement span, 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter reports approach toward the bearing pads early enough for load reduction or emergency trip.
Install on centrifugal compressor anti-surge protection
A compressor rotor axial shift often indicates balance piston wear or process upset. 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter continuously feeds the anti-surge PLC with shaft position data so that the control logic can unload the compressor before internal rubbing occurs.
Connect portable analyzer through Prox Out port
Maintenance personnel can attach a vibration analyzer to the BNC output of 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter. The buffered signal allows waveform observation

Competitive Advantage
Transmit signal over long plant cable distances
With 12–35 Vdc supply and 1000 Ω allowable loop resistance, 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter can send measurement signals across control rooms located tens or hundreds of meters away without external signal converters.
Provide both control signal and diagnostic waveform
Unlike simple proximity monitors, 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter outputs 4–20 mA for automation systems while simultaneously offering a buffered BNC signal for analyzers, allowing monitoring and troubleshooting at the same time.
Install transmitter inside cabinet and probe at bearing
The 5 m system length allows separation between harsh machine environment and electronics. The probe stays at the thrust bearing while 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter is mounted inside a protected control panel, reducing heat and oil exposure.
Allow alarm and trip setpoints in PLC logic
Because the output is proportional current, 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter enables programmable alarm levels in PLC software. For example, 16 mA can be set as warning and 19 mA as trip corresponding to specific axial displacement values.
Operate in hot equipment areas
With −35°C to +85°C operating temperature, 991-06-50-01-CN Thrust Transmitter can be mounted near turbines and compressors without additional cooling enclosures, reducing installation cost and wiring complexity.
