Description
The 200-CICN 200-CIE is an interface to the ControlNet network. It is used for the remote connection of the I/O system. Each 200-CICN 200-CIE acts as an I/O scanner for the 200-ACN remote I/O-adapters. A coaxial or fiber-optic cable is used for connection to the remote I/O system. The 200-CICN 200-CIE is connected to the ControlNet cable system via a tap and a drop cable, one meter long. The unit connects, galvanically isolated, to ControlNet via the front BNC connector.
Applications
Automobile assembly plants: High-speed data exchange between multiple I/O stations distributed across long production lines is achieved through ControlNet.
Water treatment plants/wastewater treatment plants: Distributed controllers are connected to a central monitoring network using Ethernet modules.
Cement plants/paper mills: Stable long-distance communication is ensured due to their EMC directive compliance in harsh industrial environments.
Maintenance Recommendations
Regular Cleaning: Industrial dust can affect the physical connections of the AUI or BNC. It is recommended to use a precision electronic cleaner to blow away dust during downtime maintenance.
Regular Battery Replacement: For the 200-CIE, the built-in backup battery should be checked and replaced periodically according to the maintenance schedule.
Competitive Advantages
Modular Design: Supports the removal or insertion of units while the system is powered on, significantly reducing maintenance downtime.
Safety: Features mechanical code keys to prevent damage caused by mistakenly inserting different types of modules during replacement.
Compatibility: The S200 series is fully bus compatible with the newer S200C modules and can be mixed and matched on the same DIN rail.
FAQ
Q: What cables are needed for remote I/O connection of the 200-CICN 200-CIE?
A: For the 200-CICN 200-CIE, standard ControlNet coaxial cable or fiber optic cable is used for remote I/O connection, typically via a tap and a 1-meter drop cable.
Q: Can a regular network cable be directly plugged into the AUI interface of the 200-CICN 200-CIE?
A: No. For the 200-CICN 200-CIE, the AUI interface is a 15-pin port and cannot directly accept an RJ45 cable. It requires an external Ethernet transceiver (MAU) to convert the signal to RJ45 or BNC.
Q: Do the 200-CICN 200-CIE modules support hot-swapping?
A: Yes, the 200-CICN 200-CIE modules support hot-swapping in certain configurations, allowing insertion or removal while the system is powered on to improve maintenance flexibility.
Q: What does it mean if the red light on the 200-CICN 200-CIE is lit?
A: For the 200-CICN 200-CIE, a red indicator light usually signals an initialization error or possible hardware fault. It is recommended to first check the 24V DC power supply and verify the rotary DIP switch address settings.
Q: What is the current lifecycle stage of the 200-CICN 200-CIE products?
A: The 200-CICN 200-CIE belongs to the SattCon 200 series, which is considered a classic lifecycle product line. ABB provides migration options such as the S800 I/O system to support gradual modernization and system upgrades.
