Description
The FC-SDO-0824 V1.4 is a safe digital output module. It primarily outputs switching signals to control the opening and closing of field electrical equipment such as indicator lights and solenoid valves. This module divides the channels into two groups. When a system malfunctions or receives a protection command, the internal processor can directly cut off the power output of the corresponding group, causing the external equipment to immediately stop working.
Applications
Petroleum refinery: deployed in emergency shutdown panels, directly driving explosion-proof ESD solenoid valves for rapid trip and reset in hazardous conditions
Long-distance pipeline station: used in isolation control circuits, driving high-power relays to trip large motor main circuits in remote compressor stations
Fine chemical plant: integrated into reactor pressure relief systems, using ultra-low leakage current to prevent unintended valve actuation from stray currents
Thermal power plant: applied in boiler fuel trip systems, using built-in short-circuit protection to isolate faults in long field wiring runs
Offshore LNG facility: used in alarm and indication panels, driving high-load lamps and buzzers for reliable emergency signaling in harsh offshore environments
Test
The outputs are tested during configured diagnostic test intervals:
- Power failure capability
- Power-down group capability (by auxiliary means)
- Crosstalk between outputs
- Suppressor diode capability
The outputs are divided into two groups of four outputs each. Each group has its own auxiliary power-down method. The auxiliary power-down method (SMOD) enables the watchdog and processor topower-down the outputs regardless of the outcome of the application function.
FAQ
Q: What is the highest electrical current that a single output channel on the FC-SDO-0824 V1.4 can safely drive?
A: Each channel handles up to 550 mA continuous current.
Q: Does the FC-SDO-0824 V1.4 support direct connection to heavy indicator lamps?
A: Yes, it supports lamp loads up to 120 mA (2.9 W).
Q: How much current does the FC-SDO-0824 V1.4 draw with no active loads?
A: It draws a baseline 70 mA at 24 Vdc in quiescent state.
Q: What physical spacing is required for the FC-SDO-0824 V1.4 in a control rack?
A: Requires 4 TE width and 3 HE height (4 HP, 3U).
Q: What prevents wrong-slot insertion of the FC-SDO-0824 V1.4?
A: Mechanical keying holes at A9 and C9 block insertion into incorrect slots.
