Description
The 76683-50 35 mm Proximity Sensor measures differential expansion and rotor displacement on medium and large steam turbines with high precision. Designed for transducer ranges exceeding 4 mm (160 mils) and probe temperatures above 125°C (257°F), the 76683-50 operates from -52°C to +100°C (-62°F to +212°F). It features a 35 mm (1.4 in) probe tip, 5 m (16.4 ft) cable, 4–20 mA DC output, and 24 VDC supply. The 76683-50 has 50 Ω output resistance, probe DC resistance of 5 Ω/m, and extension cable capacitance of 68.8 pF/m, ensuring accurate signal transmission. Its IP67 ingress protection allows installation in harsh environments. The 76683-50 provides non-contact measurement, enabling real-time vibration, proximity, and position monitoring without wear. With fast response and compact design, it integrates easily into automated turbine control systems, delivering precise distance data essential for rotor tracking, expansion monitoring, and predictive maintenance in industrial automation applications.
Applications
Oil & Gas: Monitoring high-pressure compressors, crude oil pumps, and turbines located in Zone 0 or Zone 1 (Zone 0/1) in refineries, LNG terminals, and offshore platforms.
Power Generation: Monitoring hydrogen-cooled generator sets. Due to the highly explosive nature of hydrogen, the 76683-50 barrier module must be used to protect vibration sensor wiring.
Petrochemical: Monitoring reactor agitators, large fans, and chemical transfer pumps to prevent secondary disasters caused by electrical faults.
Mining & Heavy Industry: Providing safety protection in monitoring mine ventilation systems in the presence of methane or coal dust.
