Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe (330103-00-16-10-02-00) is a high-precision, non-contacting eddy current transducer designed for vibration and position measurements in industrial automation and rotating machinery applications. This probe produces an output voltage directly proportional to the distance between the 8 mm probe tip and the target conductive surface, allowing simultaneous measurement of static positions and dynamic vibrations. The probe’s linear range of 2 mm (80 mils) provides reliable monitoring for fluid-film bearing machines, Keyphasor reference signals, and rotational speed measurement.
The probe features a robust M10 x 1 threaded case with a maximum thread engagement of 15 mm, an overall case length of 160 mm, and a total cable length of 1.0 meter (3.3 feet). It uses a Miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector for secure, industry-standard connections and provides high temperature resistance from -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F). Electrical performance includes output resistance of 50 Ω, extension cable capacitance of 69.9 pF/m, and supply sensitivity of less than 2 mV per volt change in input voltage. All 3300 XL 8 mm probes are fully interchangeable with other 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer components, simplifying system upgrades and maintenance.
Mechanical and electrical reliability is further enhanced through a patented TipLoc molding method, providing a durable bond between the probe tip and body, and a CableLoc design that secures the probe cable to withstand a 330 N (75 lbf) pull force. Optional FluidLoc cable designs prevent oil or other liquids from leaking through the probe cable, ensuring contamination-free operation in challenging industrial environments.
Applications
Axial Position Monitoring
The 3300 XL 8 mm probe delivers precise axial position data on turbine and compressor shafts, with ±0.01 mm resolution, enabling optimized shaft alignment and load distribution.
Vibration Measurement on Fluid-Film Bearings
It measures dynamic shaft vibrations in fluid-film bearing machinery, providing critical data for predictive maintenance and reducing the risk of catastrophic bearing failure.
Keyphasor Reference and Phase Signals
The probe generates accurate Keyphasor phase reference signals, supporting automated rotor imbalance detection, vibration spectrum analysis, and condition-based monitoring.
Rotational Speed and Zero-Speed Detection
With high sensitivity and stability, the probe provides reliable tachometer and zero-speed signals, ensuring safe start-up, shutdown, and control of rotating equipment.
Space-Constrained Installations
Due to its compact 8 mm probe tip, the system can be installed in tight areas where larger probes are unsuitable, allowing flexible integration in legacy or compact automation systems.
