Description

Bently Nevada 133396-01 is an Overspeed Detection I/O Module for 3500 Series racks, designed for fast-response, redundant tachometer systems in industrial automation. The 133396-01 accepts single transducer signals from proximity probes or magnetic pickups, with an input range of +10 V to -24 V and 20 kΩ input impedance. Each 133396-01 consumes 8.0 W typical power and provides a -24 Vdc, 40 mA supply for connected transducers.

The 133396-01 supports Bently Nevada 3300 and 7200 series Proximitor transducers with 5 mm to 16 mm probe diameters, and magnetic pickups. It outputs 4–20 mA recorder signals proportional to full-scale speed, with 0–600 Ω load capability and 0.3662 µA resolution. Front panel LEDs on 133396-01 indicate module operation, communication, bypass, test mode, and alarm status. Relays are SPDT with epoxy sealing and 250 Vrms arc suppressors.

Operating from -30°C to +65°C, 133396-01 withstands storage up to -40°C to +85°C and 95% non-condensing humidity. By integrating 133396-01, engineers can configure under alert, over alert, and overspeed danger setpoints, providing reliable alarm-driven protection in automation systems compliant with API 670 and 612 standards.

Applications

Application Monitor Shaft Overspeed in Industrial Machinery

133396-01 is installed in 3500 Series racks to continuously monitor shaft speed using single transducer signals from Bently Nevada 3300 and 7200 Proximitor probes or magnetic pickups. With an input signal range of +10 V to -24 V and 20 kΩ input impedance, 133396-01 converts real-time speed measurements into 4–20 mA recorder outputs, enabling integration with PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.

Application Configure Alarm Setpoints for Overspeed Protection

Using 133396-01, engineers can set under alert, over alert, and danger (overspeed) thresholds from 0 to 100% of full-scale speed. The module updates measurements approximately every 100 ms, ensuring alarms trigger within 30 ms for speeds above 300 Hz. 133396-01 allows operators to program relay outputs and monitor alarm conditions via front panel LEDs.

Application Supply Transducer Power and Communicate Status

133396-01 delivers -24 Vdc at 40 mA to connected Proximitor or magnetic pickups. The module’s SPDT relays with 250 Vrms arc suppressors provide controlled outputs for shutdown or bypass systems. OK, TX/RX, Bypass, and Test Mode LEDs on 133396-01 provide visual confirmation of power, communication, and test status in automation racks.

Competitive Advantage

Competitive Advantage Fast-Response Redundant Overspeed Detection

133396-01 supports 2-out-of-2 or 2-out-of-3 voting configurations in redundant 3500 rack setups. This enables multiple 133396-01 modules to provide reliable, independent overspeed detection for high-speed turbines, compressors, and motors.

Competitive Advantage High Precision 4–20 mA Output

The 4–20 mA output of 133396-01 has 0.3662 µA resolution with ±0.25% error at room temperature and ±0.7% across the operating range. This allows engineers to monitor shaft speed quantitatively and integrate 133396-01 output directly into automation control loops.

Competitive Advantage Operate in Harsh Industrial Conditions

133396-01 functions from -30°C to +65°C, stores from -40°C to +85°C, and tolerates 95% non-condensing humidity. The epoxy-sealed relays and rugged design enable 133396-01 to perform continuous overspeed protection in heavy industrial environments.
