Description
The 125680-01 Proximitor I/O Module is a machinery vibration monitoring interface used in 3500 rack protection systems. The 125680-01 accepts 1–4 proximity transducer inputs and converts shaft displacement and position signals for automation monitoring and alarm processing. Installed in one full-height rear slot, 125680-01 operates from −30 °C to +65 °C and consumes about 7.7 W.
For rotating equipment, 125680-01 supports radial vibration, thrust position, and differential expansion measurements with 3.94 mV/μm (100 mV/mil) or 7.87 mV/μm (200 mV/mil) sensitivity. Frequency response is programmable: rotor 0.108–2221 Hz, spike 0.152–8678 Hz, gap 0.002–1.0 Hz, and direct 3.906–14.2 Hz. Amplitude accuracy is within ±0.33% typical, phase error ≤3°, and alarm setpoint accuracy within 0.13%.
In automation turbine, compressor, and pump protection systems, 125680-01 transmits processed vibration and position data to control systems, enabling real-time equipment monitoring and shutdown logic.
Applications
Turbine shaft vibration monitoring
The 125680-01 receives up to four proximity probe signals and converts shaft displacement into control-system readable values. With 3.94 mV/μm or 7.87 mV/μm sensitivity, the 125680-01 measures radial vibration and eccentricity on steam and gas turbines. The programmable rotor band (0.108–2221 Hz) allows operators to track vibration at different running speeds and trigger alarms when amplitude approaches configured limits.
Compressor thrust position protection
In axial compressors, the 125680-01 tracks thrust movement using proximity transducers. Gap response selectable from 0.002–1.0 Hz captures slow axial drift, while amplitude accuracy within ±0.33% full scale enables precise trip thresholds. The 125680-01 sends position data to the protection rack so control logic can initiate shutdown before rotor contact occurs.
Pump bearing wear detection
For large process pumps, the 125680-01 monitors shaft centerline shift and bearing clearance. The spike response (0.152–8678 Hz) identifies early bearing defects and impacts. Maintenance teams use 125680-01 measurements to plan bearing replacement instead of waiting for mechanical damage.
Differential expansion measurement in generators
Installed in generator monitoring systems, the 125680-01 compares shaft and casing movement. Thrust and direct measurement bands (3.906–14.2 Hz) capture slow thermal expansion during startup and load changes. The 125680-01 allows operators to control warm-up rates and avoid rotor rub.

Competitive Advantage
Supports four transducer inputs in one slot
The 125680-01 accepts 1–4 proximity probes within a single full-height rear rack slot, reducing rack card count and simplifying wiring in 3500 systems.
Precise alarm trigger configuration
Alarm setpoints are adjustable and accurate within 0.13% of the target value. The 125680-01 enables clear trip logic for vibration or position limits instead of relying on external relay modules.
Wide operating temperature range
Operating from −30°C to +65°C and storage −40°C to +85°C, the 125680-01 can be installed in turbine enclosures, compressor skids, and outdoor cabinets without additional heaters.
Low power consumption for continuous monitoring
Typical consumption of 7.7 W allows multiple 125680-01 modules to run continuously in protection racks without increasing cabinet heat load or power supply capacity.
