Description
The Series 90-30 I/O LINK Master Module (IC693BEM321) allows a Series 90-30 PLC to act as a master on a proprietary Fanuc I/O LINK. The Fanuc I/O LINK is a serial interface which provides high-speed exchange of I/O data between the master and up to 16 slaves. The master can receive 1024 discrete inputs from slaves, and send up to 1024 discrete outputs. The illustration above shows a simple I/O LINK system: a Series 90-30 PLC used as a master, a Series 90-30 Hand-held Programmer, an I/O LINK, and one slave. In the illustration, the slave is a Power Mate CNC. Other devices that can be used as slaves include the Series 90-70 PLC, the Series 90-30 PLC, the Fanuc Series 0 CNC, Fanuc Connection Units, and Fanuc Operator Panels. The module can be configured using a Series 90-30 Hand-held Programmer (HHP) or the configuration software.
Applications
CNC machine tool manufacturing plant: Used for data exchange between the Series 90-30 PLC and FANUC 0i/16i/18i/21i CNC systems, transmitting tool status, machining commands, and coordinate interlock signals.
Automotive powertrain workshop: Connects the PLC to remote I/O stations distributed throughout the machine tools via I/O Links on large automated machining lines.
Robot integration unit: The PLC acts as a host computer, controlling the peripheral I/O of FANUC robots through this module.
Metalworking and die-casting plant: Provides highly interference-resistant serial communication in complex machining center environments.

FAQ
Q: What is an IC693BEM321?
A: The IC693BEM321 is an I/O Link Interface Master Module from the GE Fanuc 90-30 Series.
Q: What does IC693BEM321 do for the 90-30 system?
A: This module allows a 90-30 controller to act as a master on a proprietary Fanuc I/O Link.
Q: How does the IC693BEM321 relate to the slaves?
A: This module provides I/O Link communications with up to 16 slaves. The master can receive 1024 discrete inputs from slaves and send up to 1024 discrete outputs.
Q: How many modules can be located in the main PACSystems 90-30 backplane?
A: The maximum number of master modules installed on the backplane depends on the power that is available from the power supply.
Q: Where must IC693BEM321 be located?
A: IC693BEM321 can be installed in any available backplane slot except the CPU slot.
