Description
The Compact Box-Style I/O Carrier (IC200CHS022) has 36 IEC box-style terminals. It provides mounting, backplane communications, and field wiring for one I/O module. The IC200CHS022 provides flexibility and modularity as it allows hosted VersaMax I/O modules to be replaced or serviced without the need of removing the existing wiring connections to the carrier modules. With this, troubleshooting time is significantly reduced especially control system or module downtime. This carrier module also provides the mounting assembly such as the DIN slot or panel mounting tabs to fix the carrier module into place along the partner I/O module. The IC200CHS022 is provided with a card holder that hinges down over the terminal wiring. It also has a card holder which locks the I/O module into place. During operation, this card holder must be in the retracted orientation.
Applications
Packaging machinery plants: Small distributed control boxes for case packers and sealing/cutting machines.
Food and beverage plants: Sensors and actuators for monitoring individual equipment (such as filling pumps and autoclaves).
Water treatment plants: Deployed in small outdoor control boxes to connect pressure, flow, and switch signals.
Light industrial automation lines: Segmented I/O data acquisition nodes on production lines to reduce long-distance cabling.
Features
1 The Compact Box-Style I/O carrier supports wiring for up to 32 I/O points and 4 common/power connections
2 Easily-set keying dials to assure installation of the correct type of module on the carrier. Keys are set to match the keying on the bottom of the module. A complete list of module keying assignments is included in appendix D
3 Carrier-to-carrier mating connectors for quick installation of the backplane connection with no additional cables or tools needed
4 Module latch hole for securely fastening the module to the carrier
5 A printed wiring card provided with each I/O module can be folded and inserted in the built-in card holder
Installation Procedure
1 Easy-Keying Dials: Easy-keying dials that simplify installation by matching the keying at the base of the module. This design prevents incorrect module placement, ensuring that the right components are installed in the correct positions without the need for additional tools or effort
2 Male-Female Connectors: The module comes equipped with male-female connectors that facilitate quick backplane connections. This tool-free design makes it easier to connect the module to the system, saving time and reducing the complexity of installation. No additional tools or cables are required for backplane connections, simplifying the setup process
3 Module Latch Hole: A latch hole is integrated into the design, ensuring that the module is securely fastened to the carrier. This feature provides stability during operation and prevents the module from becoming loose or disconnected, particularly in environments subject to mechanical vibrations or other external factors
Wiring Flexibility
1 The carrier is designed to accommodate either single-wire or double-wire setups, depending on the requirements of the application. In a single-wire setup, the module supports a wire cross-section range from 0.36 mm? to 2.1 mm2. This range ensures flexibility in handling various wire sizes and types for different system configurations
2 For applications that require double-wire setups, it supports a maximum cross-section of 0.86 mm' per terminal. This feature enables the module to support more complex wiring configurations, expanding its flexibility for various use cases in automation systems
3 To ensure optimal conductivity and connection integrity, only solid or stranded copper wires should be used. This specification helps to maintain the reliability of the electrical connections, ensuring that the system remains operational over time and under varying environmental conditions
FAQ
Q: What is IC200CHS022?
A: It is an I/O carrier module developed by GE under VersaMax series.
Q: What are the dimensions of the module?
A: It measures 66.8 mm x 70 mm x 163.5 mm, making it a compact solution suitable for space-constrained industrial environments.
Q: How is the module installed?
A: The module is designed to easily snap onto a 7.5 mm x 35 mm DIN rail. For maximum stability and protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI), the DIN rail should be electrically grounded and have a conductive, corrosion-resistant finish. Additionally, for environments with high mechanical vibration and shock, it is recommended to also panel-mount the carrier.
Q: What type of wiring does it support?
A: The carrier supports both single-wire and double-wire setups per terminal. The single-wire cross-section range is 0.36 mm2 to 2.1 mm2, while the maximum double-wire cross-section is 0.86 mm2. Only solid or stranded copper wires should be used.
