Description
The PM891K01 3BSE053241R1 processor is a monolithic unit equipped with power supply, CPU-boards and unit termination. The unit contains microprocessor and RAM memory, a real-time clock, LED indicators, INIT push button and a Secure Digital interface. The PM891 does not contain any internal battery The PM891 has two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) for connection to the Control Network, and one RJ45 serial port (COM4). The COM4 port is isolated and used for a configuration tool. The PM891K01 3BSE053241R1 supports CPU redundancy for higher availability (CPU, CEX-Bus, communication interfaces and S800 I/O).

FAQ
Q: Can the PM891K01 3BSE053241R1 be directly plugged into an older TP830 baseboard?
A: No. The PM891 requires a dedicated TP891 baseboard with different pin definitions and physical dimensions.
Q: What is the biggest advantage of the PM891K01 3BSE053241R1?
A: Its core advantages are its massive 256MB of memory and battery-free program and data backup, unique in the AC 800M series.
Q: How many I/O signals does the PM891K01 3BSE053241R1 support?
A: Due to its large memory, it can easily support over 5000 I/O points, with the specific upper limit depending on the communication scan cycle requirements.
Q: Can the status lights and information on the screen of the PM891K01 3BSE053241R1 be customized?
A: The screen mainly displays preset system diagnostic information (such as IP address, firmware version, and operating status), and cannot be customized like an HMI.
Q: What precautions should be taken when replacing the PM891K01 3BSE053241R1?
A: Ensure that the firmware of the new module is compatible with the existing software engineering of the control station, as the PM891 typically requires a higher version of the ABB system environment.
