Description
The Bently Nevada™ 3500/44M 176449-03 Aeroderivative GT Vibration Monitor is a four-channel automation device for aeroderivative gas turbines. The 3500/44M 176449-03 accepts 1 to 4 signals from Velomitors, Proximitor, and accelerometers, conditioning them to measure 1X vibration, band-pass vibration, and integrated signals. Each channel of the 3500/44M 176449-03 can be programmed via 3500 Rack Configuration Software with alert and danger thresholds, alarm time delays, and multimode tracking using up to eight parameter sets. Operating at 23 Vdc and 7.7 W typical power, the 3500/44M 176449-03 provides ±0.13% alarm accuracy, buffered transducer outputs, and 100 ms update rate. Sensitivity options include 3.94 to 10.19 mV/(mm/s or m/s²). The 3500/44M 176449-03 communicates vibration and position data to operations and maintenance, enabling automated machine control, multimode monitoring, and real-time fault detection in gas turbine systems.
Applications
Application in Aeroderivative Gas Turbine Vibration Monitoring
The Bently Nevada™ 3500/44M 176449-03 continuously monitors turbine vibration using four channels that accept 1 to 4 signals from Velomitors, Proximitor, or accelerometers. Radial and band-pass filters from 4 Hz to 4000 Hz, along with 1X amplitude and phase lag tracking, allow the 3500/44M 176449-03 to detect misalignment or imbalance. Sensitivity ranges of 3.94 to 10.19 mV/(mm/s or m/s²) enable precise measurement of vibration velocity and acceleration.
Application in Multimode Turbine Operation Monitoring
Each channel of the 3500/44M 176449-03 supports up to eight sets of alert and danger thresholds for different turbine modes. Alarm time delays configurable from 0.1 to 60 seconds allow operators to track 1X amplitude, band-pass vibration, and phase lag across variable speeds. Multimode tracking ensures the 3500/44M 176449-03 switches automatically as turbine operating conditions change.
Application in Automated Turbine Protection and Control
Using real-time data from the 3500/44M 176449-03, automation systems can trigger alarms with ±0.13% accuracy and 100 ms update rate. Alerts initiate speed adjustments or turbine shutdown to prevent mechanical damage. Buffered transducer outputs with 550 Ω impedance allow direct connection to control systems for automated responses.
