Description
The remote S900 I/O system can be installed in non-hazardous areas or directly in Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous area depending on the selected system variant. S900 I/O communicates with the control system level using the PROFIBUS DP standard. The I/O system can be installed directly in the field, therefore the costs for marshalling and wiring are reduced.
The system is sturdy, error-tolerant and easy to service. Integrated disconnection mechanisms allow replacement during operation, meaning that there is no need to interrupt the primary voltage in order to exchange the power supply units.
S900 I/O type S. For installation in hazardous area Zone 1. For connecting intrinsically safe field devices installed in Zone 2, Zone 1 or Zone 0.
Analog Input (AI4-Ex), input and power supply for 4...20 mA loop powered 2-wire transmitters.
Applications
Oil refineries: Intrinsically safe transmitter data acquisition in core refining units and crude oil tank areas.
Offshore oil production plants: Extremely high-explosive risk areas such as oil and gas wellheads and mud treatment areas.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants: Pressure and displacement monitoring of cryogenic storage tanks and gasification units.
Fine chemical plants: High-volatility areas such as reactor interiors and solvent recovery towers.
Agrochemical plants: Parameter feedback in hazardous chemical synthesis processes.
Explosives manufacturing plants: Environmental monitoring in areas where flammable and explosive raw materials are processed and stored.

Troubleshooting
Open Circuit/Short Circuit Monitoring: The module automatically monitors field circuits. If the transmitter cable is disconnected or short-circuited, the module will transmit the corresponding status bit to the DCS and trigger a system alarm.
Intrinsically Safe Parameter Matching: If the field transmitter is replaced, it is essential to recheck that the module's intrinsically safe parameters (Uo, Io, Po) match the transmitter's parameters; otherwise, explosion-proof safety may be compromised.
Status LED Indication:
Flashing or Solid Red: Typically indicates internal self-test failure or a serious external channel fault (such as severe overcurrent).
Maintenance
Hot Swap: A major advantage of the S900 system is its ability to hot-swap the module in Zone 1 hazardous areas without generating sparks (subject to relevant field work permits).
Base Compatibility: Must be installed on the S900's Type S (intrinsically safe) base. It cannot be used interchangeably with Type N components to ensure electrical safety distances and intrinsic safety integrity.
FAQ
Q: What is the AI910N 3KDE175513L9100?
A: It is a Analog Input Module.
Q: Does the AI910S 3KDE175511L9100 support HART communication?
A: No. The AI910S 3KDE175511L9100 only transmits 4–20 mA analog signals. If HART pass-through or communication is required, the AI910S 3KDE175511L9100 from the same series should be used instead.
Q: What are the main differences between the AI910S and AI910N?
A: AI910S is designed for Zone 1 hazardous areas, is intrinsically safe (Ex certified), and can connect to Zone 0/1 devices.
AI910N is intended for standard, non-explosion-proof safety zones and does not provide intrinsic safety protection.
Q: How to Check Price and Availability for AI910S 3KDE175511L9100?
