Description
The 991-01-XX-02-05 Thrust Transmitter delivers precise 4–20 mA axial displacement signals for automation systems in centrifugal compressors, small pumps, motors, and fans. Designed for OEM applications, the 991-01-XX-02-05 accepts one non-contacting 3300 NSv Proximity Probe and extension cable, conditioning the shaft position into proportional electrical output. The transmitter operates on +12 to +35 Vdc with 23 mA typical current, supporting a maximum loop resistance of 1,000 Ω. Linear range for Prox Out is 0.25–1.65 mm (10–65 mils), with a full-scale option of 25-0-25 mils. Leadwire length supports up to 3 meters (10 feet) via BNC connector. Mounting is flexible with bulkhead screws, and agency approvals include CSA Division 2, ATEX Zone 0/2, and ABS maritime. Operating temperatures span -35°C to +85°C, storage up to +100°C. The 991-01-XX-02-05 features integrated Proximitor Sensor output, non-isolated PROX OUT and COM terminals, zero/span adjustment potentiometers, test input verification, power-up inhibit, and Not OK/Signal Defeat circuitry. Potted construction ensures reliable operation in high-humidity environments, while compact design allows installation in confined spaces typical of centrifugal air compressors. The 991-01-XX-02-05 Thrust Transmitter provides a robust, direct 4–20 mA automation signal for machinery monitoring and control.
Applications
Natural Gas Compressor Stations: Due to the outdoor location of the equipment, transmitters are typically installed directly in explosion-proof junction boxes near the compressor housing. 02. Screw mounting is more vibration-resistant than DIN rails.
Small to Medium-Sized Centrifugal Pump Plants: In compact pump sets, the bulkhead mount feature allows for direct mounting to lubrication line protection covers or support structures.
Offshore Drilling Platforms: Used in harsh vibration environments, screw mounting is more secure than DIN rails, and the -05 certification level meets global safety standards for marine engineering (ATEX/CSA).
Metallurgical Plants (Gearboxes/Fans): Used to monitor axial displacement of heavy-duty gearboxes or large ventilation equipment, ensuring that bearings do not suffer overload damage.

Competitive Advantage
Competitive Advantage 1 Simplified OEM Integration
The 991-01-XX-02-05 uses a 2-wire, loop-powered design with BNC-prox output, allowing immediate integration with 3300 NSv Proximity Probes. Quantitatively, the transmitter’s linear output of 0.25–1.65 mm maps directly to a 4–20 mA signal, reducing installation setup by up to 40% compared to multi-unit sensor systems.
Competitive Advantage 2 Precise Electrical Signal Conditioning
The 991-01-XX-02-05 maintains accurate 4–20 mA signals over loop resistances up to 1,000 Ω, with current limiting at 23 mA typical. Using its full-scale option of ±25 mils, the transmitter provides consistent linear output, minimizing control error in automated systems to less than 2% of full-scale range.
Competitive Advantage 3 Harsh Environment Operation
The 991-01-XX-02-05 is fully potted for condensation up to 100%, operates from -35°C to +85°C, and complies with CSA Division 2, ATEX Zone 0/2, and ABS maritime approvals. These specifications allow deployment in industrial compressor rooms or outdoor pump stations without additional protective enclosures.
Competitive Advantage 4 Quick On-Site Loop Verification
The 991-01-XX-02-05 includes a test input pin and zero/span potentiometers, allowing field verification of 4–20 mA output within ±0.1 mA accuracy. This enables technicians to confirm loop signal performance quickly, reducing troubleshooting time by up to 50% in automated machinery setups.
