Description

991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter is a two-wire loop-powered vibration signal converter used in automated rotating equipment monitoring. 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter accepts one 3300 NSv proximity probe and converts shaft vibration and gap displacement into a 4–20 mA control signal for PLC and DCS input cards.

Powered by 12–35 Vdc, 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter supports loop resistance up to 1000 Ω and current limiting at about 23 mA. The transmitter measures vibration within a 25-0-25 mil range and provides a linear Prox Out gap signal over 0.25–1.65 mm. 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter operates from −35°C to +85°C and mounts on DIN rail or screws in control cabinets.

A BNC Prox Out port on 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter allows technicians to connect analyzers while the 4–20 mA loop continues feeding the automation system, enabling machinery protection logic for compressors, motors, pumps, and fans.

Applications

Monitor centrifugal compressor shaft vibration with DCS input
In air compressor skids, 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter receives the 3300 NSv probe signal and converts the 25-0-25 mil shaft motion into a 4–20 mA signal. The 12–35 Vdc loop power allows direct wiring to a PLC analog card. Using the 0.25–1.65 mm Prox Out range, operators can observe rotor position while the control system triggers alarms when the current approaches 20 mA.

Protect motor bearings in MCC cabinets
Installed inside motor control centers, 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter mounts on DIN rail and works from −35°C to +85°C. The transmitter outputs vibration level to a protection relay while the BNC port connects a portable analyzer. With loop resistance up to 1000 Ω, long cable runs between the motor and cabinet remain usable without extra signal conditioners.

Send pump vibration data to plant PLC racks
For process pumps, 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter continuously feeds the PLC with a proportional current signal. When shaft displacement increases within the 25-mil scale, the loop current rises above 16 mA and the PLC initiates trip logic. The 23 mA current limiting protects the input module from overcurrent.

Track fan rotor movement in ventilation systems
Industrial fans often lack large monitoring systems. 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter provides a compact solution by accepting one non-contact probe and delivering a real-time analog signal. Maintenance staff can connect a handheld scope to the 10 kΩ Prox Out port and verify rotor gap without interrupting operation.

Competitive Advantage

Connect directly to PLC analog card without external converter
Because 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter produces a 4–20 mA signal, it can be wired straight into common automation input modules. No additional signal conditioner or rack monitor is required, reducing cabinet space and wiring time.

Allow live measurement using BNC diagnostic port
The built-in Prox Out connector on 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter outputs the dynamic gap voltage while the loop remains active. Technicians can attach a vibration analyzer and compare waveform data with the 4–20 mA trend in the DCS.

Operate in outdoor equipment rooms
With an operating range of −35°C to +85°C, 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter can be installed near field equipment such as compressors and pumps. The potted construction handles high humidity and avoids adding climate-controlled enclosures.

Support long cable routing between machine and cabinet
The transmitter tolerates up to 1000 Ω loop resistance and a 7 m probe system length. 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter therefore maintains accurate current output even when the probe is several meters away from the control panel.

Limit loop current to protect control cards
The internal 23 mA limiting circuit in 991-01-XX-01-00 mod 288865-01 Vibration Transmitter prevents excessive current from reaching the PLC input channel. This reduces the risk of input card damage during wiring errors or sensor faults.
