Description

The 990-05-70-02-01 Vibration Transmitter is a high-precision, loop-powered device designed for industrial automation systems to provide real-time vibration monitoring of rotating machinery. Engineered for OEM integration with centrifugal air compressors, small pumps, motors, and fans, this transmitter converts signals from a 3300 NSv Proximity Probe into a 4–20 mA industry-standard output, representing peak-to-peak vibration amplitude in millimeters or mils. It supports linear ranges from 0.25 to 1.65 mm (10–65 mils) and full-scale vibration measurements up to 5 mils pp (125 μm pp). The transmitter operates reliably in harsh conditions with an operating temperature range of -35°C to +85°C (-31°F to +185°F) and storage temperatures from -52°C to +100°C (-62°F to +212°F). With CSA Division 2 approval, the transmitter is suitable for hazardous locations. Features include integrated Proximitor Sensor, non-isolated PROX OUT and COM terminals with BNC output for diagnostic purposes, non-interacting zero and span potentiometers for precise loop adjustment, and a Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit to prevent false alarms from faulty probes or loose connections. Mounting is simplified via bulkhead screws or optional DIN-rail clips, and potted construction ensures reliable performance in 100% condensing humidity environments. With a 7-meter system cable option, the 990 Transmitter enables flexible installation in tight machinery spaces while maintaining high-fidelity vibration data for automation control and machinery protection.

Applications

1. Centrifugal Air Compressor Monitoring
Provides proportional 4–20 mA vibration signals for automated machinery protection, preventing unplanned shutdowns and reducing maintenance costs.

2. Small Pump and Motor Vibration Control
Delivers real-time vibration feedback to PLC or DCS systems, ensuring pumps and motors operate within safe dynamic limits.

3. Fan and Blower Automation Integration
Integrates vibration data into control loops for automated speed regulation and alarm triggering in HVAC and industrial ventilation systems.

4. OEM Machinery Protection Systems
Allows OEMs to embed a reliable 4–20 mA signal for vibration-based safety interlocks and automated shutdown sequences.

5. High-Humidity or Condensing Environments
The potted design and CSA Division 2 rating allow installation in process or utility areas with up to 100% condensing humidity while maintaining accurate signal output.

0.25 to 1.65 mm (10 to 65 mils) for Prox Out

Leadwire Length:

Proximitor Sensor Output (BNC connector), maximum cable distance is 3 meters (10 feet)

Competitive Advantage

1. Integrated Proximitor Sensor
Eliminates the need for an external sensor unit, reducing installation complexity and minimizing system footprint.

2. Dual Signal Outputs for Diagnostics
Non-isolated PROX OUT and COM terminals with BNC output enable dynamic vibration signal monitoring alongside standard 4–20 mA control signals.

3. Adjustable Zero and Span
Non-interacting potentiometers allow precise loop calibration without affecting the other parameter, ensuring accurate automation feedback.

4. Fault Protection with Not OK/Signal Defeat Circuit
Prevents false alarms or high output due to faulty probes or loose connections, enhancing safety and reliability in automated control systems.

5. Flexible Mounting and Harsh Environment Operation
Bulkhead or DIN-rail mounting, potted construction, and wide temperature range (-35°C to +85°C) make it ideal for compact and challenging industrial installations.
