Description
The 3300 NSv Proximity Probe (model 330909-00-80-10-01-00) is an advanced eddy-current transducer designed for high-precision vibration and position monitoring in industrial automation systems. Engineered for use with centrifugal air compressors, refrigeration compressors, and process gas compressors, this probe excels in applications with tight installation constraints. With a compact overall case length of 8.0 in and a standard cable length of 1.0 meter (39 in), the probe accommodates counter bore, sideview, and rearview restrictions where traditional Bently Nevada 3300 XL 5 and 8 mm systems cannot be used.
The probe features a 3/8-24 UNF threaded case, maximum engagement of 0.563 in, and robust materials including an AISI 304 stainless steel case and a Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) probe tip, ensuring durability in temperatures ranging from -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +351°F). Its linear measurement range of 1.5 mm (60 mils) with a recommended gap of 1.0 mm (40 mils) delivers precise radial and axial position monitoring. The probe’s 50 Ω output resistance and supply sensitivity of less than 2 mV per volt variation maintain signal stability across varying power conditions.
The 3300 NSv system is compatible with existing 3300 RAM probes and extension cables while offering enhanced chemical resistance and superior sideview characteristics. Its ClickLoc connectors, TipLoc molded probe tips, and CableLoc cable retention system provide secure, reliable connections for continuous operation in harsh industrial environments. The NSv series is ideal for small target applications, including shafts smaller than 51 mm (2 in) and flat axial targets below 15 mm (0.6 in).
Applications
Radial Vibration Monitoring
The 3300 NSv probe is ideal for measuring radial vibration on shafts as small as 51 mm (2 in). Its 1.5 mm (60 mils) linear range ensures high-resolution detection of shaft movement in compressors, reducing the risk of mechanical failure.
Axial (Thrust) Position Measurement
For fluid-filmed bearing machines, the probe provides accurate axial position readings on flat targets down to 15 mm (0.6 in), enabling precise thrust load monitoring and improving operational safety.
Tachometer and Zero-Speed Detection
The probe supports tachometer and zero-speed measurements for high-speed rotating machinery. With stable output resistance of 50 Ω, it ensures accurate rotational speed signals even in variable voltage conditions.
Phase Reference (Keyphasor) Signal Generation
The 3300 NSv generates reliable Keyphasor signals for rotor phase reference, essential for vibration analysis, balance control, and predictive maintenance in industrial automation systems.
Process Gas and Refrigeration Compressor Monitoring
Designed for tight installation spaces, the probe can be deployed in centrifugal and refrigeration compressors, delivering real-time vibration and displacement data to prevent downtime and extend equipment life.

Competitive Advantage
Enhanced Side-View Capability
The probe’s compact side-view design allows installation where counter bore or restricted access prevents use of standard 3300 XL systems, providing flexibility in complex machine layouts.
High Chemical Resistance
With PPS probe tips and stainless steel cases, the NSv probe withstands harsh process environments, including chemical exposure in compressors, extending the service life compared to older 3300 RAM probes.
Interchangeable and Upgradable
The system is mechanically and electrically compatible with existing 3300 RAM probes, allowing seamless upgrades with minimal replacement of extension cables and monitoring systems.
Secure, Reliable Connections
ClickLoc connectors with optional connector protectors, TipLoc molded probe tips, and CableLoc cable retention ensure reliable signal transmission under high-vibration conditions, preventing signal loss and operational errors.
Optimized for Small Targets
Its ability to measure radial and axial positions on targets as small as 15 mm (0.6 in) makes the probe ideal for small-shaft machinery, enabling high-precision monitoring where traditional transducers are ineffective.
