Description
The PROXPAC XL Proximity Transducer (330880-28-15-035-00-02) is an advanced, self-contained non-contacting transducer system designed for precision vibration, displacement, and position measurements in industrial automation and rotating machinery. This assembly integrates a 3300 XL 8 mm probe with a built-in Proximitor sensor, eliminating the need for separate extension cables or Proximitor housings. With a linear range of 2 mm (80 mils) and a recommended gap setting of 1.27 mm (50 mils), the PROXPAC XL provides accurate, repeatable measurements essential for critical machinery monitoring.
The housing is constructed from Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) reinforced with glass and conductive fibers, providing superior durability and electrostatic dissipation. The assembly accommodates shafts with diameters from 50.8 mm to 76.2 mm (2.0–3.0 in) and includes a 1.5 in (38 mm) standoff adapter with a 3.5 in probe penetration, making it adaptable for various industrial installations. Electrical features include 50 Ω output resistance, <2 mV supply sensitivity, and field wiring support from 0.2 to 1.5 mm² (16 to 24 AWG). The housing is IP66 rated and can operate in temperatures ranging from -52°C to +100°C (-62°F to +212°F), ensuring reliable performance in severe environments.
The PROXPAC XL design allows direct connection to monitoring systems without additional housings, streamlining installation and maintenance. Its thermoplastic PPS housing replaces steel and aluminum, reducing weight while maintaining strength and chemical resistance. This robust design ensures longevity and reliability even in challenging industrial conditions.
Applications
Axial and Radial Position Monitoring
The PROXPAC XL accurately measures axial and radial shaft positions in turbines and compressors, providing real-time data for load balancing and operational optimization with ±0.01 mm resolution.
Vibration Monitoring on Rotating Machinery
It captures dynamic vibrations of fluid-film bearings and other rotating components, enabling predictive maintenance and reducing the risk of unplanned downtime.
Self-Contained Sensor Applications
With the built-in Proximitor sensor, the PROXPAC XL eliminates extension cables, simplifying installation in compact or high-vibration industrial environments.
Environmental and Harsh Condition Monitoring
Its IP66-rated PPS housing allows reliable measurement in dusty, wet, or corrosive environments, making it ideal for chemical, power generation, and petrochemical industries.
Shaft Speed and Phase Reference Signals
The transducer provides accurate Keyphasor and tachometer signals, supporting rotor imbalance detection, phase analysis, and automated condition monitoring systems.
