Description
The 330878-91-05 3300 XL 50 mm Proximitor Sensor is an advanced eddy current transducer system engineered for monitoring differential expansion (DE) and rotor expansion (RX) in large steam turbine generators. Paired with a 50 mm proximity probe and an extension cable, the system provides an exceptionally long linear range of 27.9 mm (1100 mils), the largest in the Bently Nevada 3300 XL series. This extended range allows precise measurement of axial displacement caused by differential thermal expansion between the turbine rotor and the machine stator. Constructed from durable A380 aluminum, the Proximitor Sensor supports DIN-rail mounting or panel installation and accepts one non-contacting 3300 XL 50 mm Proximity Probe and Extension Cable. It features a linear voltage output of 0.394 V/mm (10 mV/mil), compatible with legacy 7200 50 mm systems, enabling seamless upgrades without monitor reconfiguration. The sensor operates reliably from –51°C to +100°C (–60°F to +212°F) and can withstand storage temperatures up to +105°C (221°F). High-temperature FluidLoc cables and ClickLoc connectors ensure moisture protection, robust mechanical stability, and reliable field connections. With superior RFI/EMI immunity and SpringLoc terminals, the 3300 XL 50 mm Proximitor Sensor delivers precise, repeatable measurements in harsh industrial environments, making it ideal for automated vibration monitoring and predictive maintenance in large turbines.
Applications
Differential Expansion Measurement
Measures axial displacement of steam turbine rotors due to thermal growth differences between rotor and stator, ensuring safe operation and reducing unplanned downtime.
Rotor Expansion Monitoring
Monitors rotor growth in real-time during startup and shutdown sequences, allowing turbine operators to manage thermal expansion and avoid shaft interference.
Large Steam Turbine Generators
Integrates with generator monitoring systems to provide precise DE and RX measurements, critical for maintaining performance and extending equipment life.
Automated Vibration Control Systems
Feeds accurate positional data to DCS or PLC systems for predictive maintenance and automated protection of turbine and auxiliary equipment.
Turbine Retrofit and Upgrade Projects
Supports upgrading legacy 7200 50 mm transducer systems without reconfiguring existing monitor wiring or software, reducing installation time and costs.
