Description

The 3300 XL 8 mm Reverse Mount Probe is an advanced eddy current proximity transducer designed for high-precision industrial automation and machinery monitoring. With a total length of 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) and a miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector, this probe ensures accurate and reliable measurement of both static positions and dynamic vibrations on conductive surfaces. Constructed with a durable AISI 303/304 stainless steel case and a polyphenylene sulfide probe tip, it operates reliably across a wide temperature range of -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F). The probe features 3/8-24 UNF threads with a maximum engagement length of 0.563 in, supporting flexible mounting configurations in reverse applications where space is limited.

The 3300 XL 8 mm system delivers linear output proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the measured surface, providing accurate vibration and position data on fluid-film bearing machinery. Fully compliant with API 670 standards, it ensures mechanical stability, precision, and temperature resilience for industrial applications. The patented TipLoc molding method enhances the probe tip’s bond to the body, while the CableLoc design supports 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength for secure cable connections. Optional FluidLoc cabling prevents leakage of oils and liquids through the cable interior, making it suitable for challenging industrial environments. The system supports backward compatibility with 5 mm and 8 mm non-XL 3300 series components, allowing interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors.

Field wiring supports 16 to 24 AWG (0.2–1.5 mm²) conductors, while the linear range of 2 mm (80 mils) provides precise measurements for both position and vibration monitoring. The probe’s compact 58.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm size and light 0.04 kg weight make it ideal for reverse mount applications in tight machinery spaces.

Applications

Application 1: Fluid-Film Bearing Vibration Monitoring
The 3300 XL 8 mm probe measures real-time vibrations on large turbines and pumps. Its 2 mm linear range captures fine oscillations at high speeds, ensuring early detection of bearing wear or imbalance.

Application 2: Rotating Machinery Position Detection
Used in compressors and generators, the probe provides precise static position readings. Reverse mount configuration allows placement in confined spaces without compromising accuracy.

Application 3: Keyphasor Reference and Speed Measurement
The probe supports speed and phase detection on rotating shafts. Coupled with API 670-compliant Proximitor sensors, it delivers reliable Keyphasor pulses for machinery monitoring systems.

Application 4: High-Temperature Industrial Environments
Operating from -52°C to +177°C, the probe is ideal for petrochemical or power generation applications where extreme temperature variations exist.

Application 5: Oil-Lubricated Machinery Monitoring
With optional FluidLoc cable design, the probe prevents leakage and contamination, ensuring accurate measurements in oil-filled machinery such as gearboxes or turbines.
