Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe (model 330103-00-05-05-02-CN) is a high-precision eddy current transducer designed for advanced industrial automation applications. This probe provides a linear output voltage directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the conductive target, enabling accurate measurements of both static positions and dynamic vibrations. With an 8 mm probe tip, linear range of 2 mm, and output resistance of 50 Ω, the 3300 XL ensures reliable performance across extreme operating temperatures from -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F). The probe features a M10x1 threaded case with 15 mm maximum thread engagement, a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with standard cable, and optional FluidLoc cable design to prevent leakage of fluids in industrial machinery. Its supply sensitivity of less than 2 mV per volt input change and extension cable capacitance of 69.9 pF/m support precise data acquisition for vibration monitoring, position detection, and Keyphasor reference applications. Fully compliant with API 670 standards, the 3300 XL probe system allows complete interchangeability with 5 mm and 8 mm 3300 series components, backward compatibility, and robust mechanical design with patented TipLoc and CableLoc features, providing up to 330 N (75 lbf) cable pull strength for secure installations in critical industrial environments.
Applications
1. Fluid-Film Bearing Vibration Monitoring
The 3300 XL 8 mm probe is used in turbine and generator bearings to measure dynamic vibration levels. Its linear range of 2 mm ensures accurate detection of subtle shaft movements, enabling predictive maintenance and early fault detection.
2. Rotor Position Detection in Rotating Machinery
Ideal for monitoring rotor position in high-speed compressors, the probe delivers a proportional output voltage, supporting position accuracy within ±0.002 mm, critical for process control in petrochemical plants.
3. Keyphasor Reference and Speed Sensing
The probe provides reliable Keyphasor signals for machinery speed measurements, essential for synchronization of control systems in steam turbines and gas compressors.
4. Harsh Environment Industrial Automation
With operating temperature tolerance from -52°C to +177°C, the 3300 XL probe functions in extreme industrial environments, including oil rigs, refineries, and power plants.
5. API 670-Compliant Machine Protection Systems
The probe supports compliance with API 670 standards, ensuring accurate position and vibration measurements for machine protection systems in critical infrastructure.
