Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe is a precision eddy current transducer designed for advanced industrial automation and machinery monitoring. With a total length of 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) and a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector, this probe provides highly accurate static and dynamic measurements of conductive surfaces. The probe features a 3/8-24 UNF threaded case with a maximum engagement of 0.563 in, a 2 mm (80 mils) linear range, and a field wiring capacity of 0.2 to 1.5 mm² (16 to 24 AWG). Operating across extreme temperatures from -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F), the probe is ideal for demanding industrial environments.
Constructed with robust materials and a TipLoc molded probe tip, the 3300 XL 8 mm probe ensures a durable, high-integrity bond between the probe tip and body. The CableLoc design supports 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength, enhancing cable attachment reliability. Optional FluidLoc cabling prevents oil and liquid ingress, enabling use in oil-lubricated machinery. The probe’s compact dimensions (18 x 18 x 2 cm) and lightweight 0.1 kg design allow flexible mounting in confined spaces. Fully compatible with 5 mm and 8 mm 3300 series components, this probe supports interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors without bench calibration, ensuring reliable integration into existing automation systems.
The 3300 XL 8 mm system provides linear voltage output directly proportional to probe-to-surface distance, suitable for vibration analysis, position monitoring, and Keyphasor speed measurements. It meets API 670 standards for accuracy, linearity, and temperature stability, offering the most advanced performance in eddy current proximity transducer systems.
Applications
Application 1: Vibration Monitoring on Fluid-Film Bearings
The probe measures high-frequency vibrations with a 2 mm linear range, detecting early signs of bearing wear in turbines, compressors, and pumps, preventing unplanned downtime.
Application 2: Precision Shaft Position Measurement
Used in generators and motors, the probe provides static position readings in confined or reverse mount locations, supporting accurate rotor alignment and monitoring.
Application 3: Keyphasor and Rotational Speed Measurement
Integrates with Proximitor sensors to generate reliable Keyphasor pulses for speed and phase detection on rotating machinery, critical for automation feedback loops.
Application 4: High-Temperature Industrial Automation
Capable of operating from -52°C to +177°C, the probe is ideal for petrochemical, power generation, or process industries where extreme thermal conditions are present.
Application 5: Oil-Lubricated Machinery Monitoring
Optional FluidLoc cable design prevents oil leakage, maintaining sensor integrity in gearboxes, turbines, and pumps where liquid contamination is a risk.
