Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe (330101-00-77-20-02-05) is a precision eddy current sensor designed for advanced industrial automation, rotating machinery monitoring, and predictive maintenance systems. It converts the gap between the probe tip and a conductive target into a proportional output voltage, enabling highly accurate static (position) and dynamic (vibration) measurements. Engineered for fluid-film bearing machines, compressors, turbines, and other rotating equipment, the probe delivers reliable data for shaft position monitoring, Keyphasor phase reference, speed measurements, and vibration analysis, optimizing machinery performance and operational safety.
This probe features a total cable length of 2.0 meters (6.6 feet) and an overall case length of 7.7 inches, providing flexibility for reverse mount, counter bore, or side-view installations in space-constrained equipment. The 3/8-24 UNF threaded housing ensures secure and repeatable installation. It operates across an extreme temperature range from -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F), and is certified to CSA, ATEX, and IECEx standards, making it suitable for hazardous and high-demand industrial environments. With a linear range of 2 mm (80 mils), output resistance of 50 Ω, minimal supply sensitivity (less than 2 mV per volt), and typical extension cable capacitance of 69.9 pF/m, this probe ensures consistent and accurate signal transmission under varying operational conditions.
Mechanically, the 3300 XL 8 mm probe integrates patented TipLoc molding for a stronger bond between probe tip and body, and CableLoc technology, providing 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to secure the probe cable. Optional FluidLoc cabling prevents oil or process fluids from entering the cable, maintaining signal integrity and prolonging equipment life. Fully backward-compatible with previous 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm probes and extension cables, it supports seamless upgrades without the need for recalibration or component matching. Its combination of precision, durability, environmental resilience, and compatibility makes it ideal for high-performance automation and industrial monitoring applications.
Applications
1. Radial Shaft Vibration Measurement
Measures radial vibrations on shafts up to 51 mm (2 in) with high accuracy. Linear range of 2 mm ensures early detection of imbalance, misalignment, or bearing degradation.
2. Axial (Thrust) Position Monitoring
Monitors axial displacement of machinery shafts to prevent overload and maintain optimal bearing performance in turbines, compressors, and pumps.
3. Keyphasor Phase Reference Generation
Provides accurate phase reference signals for high-speed rotating equipment, supporting predictive maintenance, synchronous vibration analysis, and speed monitoring.
4. Hazardous Area Operation
CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certifications allow safe deployment in explosive or high-risk industrial zones, maintaining performance without compromising safety.
5. Space-Constrained Installations
Compact 7.7-inch probe case with 3/8-24 UNF thread supports side-view, reverse mount, or counter bore applications, enabling precise measurements in tight mounting locations.
