Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe (330101-00-72-20-02-05) is a high-precision eddy current transducer engineered for industrial automation, rotating machinery monitoring, and predictive maintenance. It delivers an output voltage proportional to the distance between the probe tip and a conductive surface, enabling both static position and dynamic vibration measurements. This probe is optimized for fluid-film bearing machines, turbines, compressors, and other high-speed rotating equipment, providing reliable data for radial vibration, axial position, Keyphasor phase reference, and speed monitoring applications.
Designed with an overall case length of 7.2 inches and a total cable length of 2.0 meters (6.6 feet), the 3300 XL 8 mm probe fits space-constrained installations including side-view and reverse mount configurations. The 3/8-24 UNF threaded case ensures secure and repeatable mounting. It operates reliably over a temperature range of -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F) and holds CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certifications, making it suitable for hazardous and high-demand industrial environments.
The probe features a 2 mm (80 mils) linear range, 50 Ω output resistance, minimal supply sensitivity (<2 mV per volt), and 69.9 pF/m extension cable capacitance, ensuring stable and accurate signal transmission. Its TipLoc molding method reinforces the bond between the probe tip and body, while the CableLoc design provides 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to secure the cable connection. Optional FluidLoc cables prevent oil or process fluid ingress, maintaining measurement integrity and extending the service life of machinery. Fully backward-compatible with 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm probes and extension cables, the 3300 XL 8 mm probe allows cost-effective upgrades without recalibration, making it an essential tool for modern industrial monitoring systems.
Applications
1. Radial Shaft Vibration Monitoring
Monitors radial vibration on shafts up to 51 mm (2 in). The 2 mm linear range ensures early detection of imbalance or bearing wear for predictive maintenance.
2. Axial (Thrust) Position Measurement
Measures axial displacement in fluid-film bearings, preventing overload and ensuring optimal machine operation in compressors, turbines, and pumps.
3. Keyphasor Signal Generation
Provides accurate phase reference signals for high-speed rotating machinery, enabling synchronized vibration analysis and speed measurements.
4. Hazardous Area Operation
CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals allow deployment in explosive or high-risk industrial zones without compromising safety or performance.
5. Compact Installation Adaptability
7.2-inch probe case with 3/8-24 UNF threading supports side-view or reverse mount configurations for installations with restricted space.
