Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe (330101-00-67-20-02-05) is a high-precision eddy current sensor engineered for industrial automation and condition monitoring of rotating machinery. This probe converts the distance between the probe tip and a conductive target into a proportional output voltage, enabling accurate measurement of both static shaft position and dynamic vibration. It is optimized for fluid-film bearing machines, turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment, delivering high-fidelity data for predictive maintenance, speed monitoring, and Keyphasor phase reference applications.
This probe features a total length of 2.0 meters (6.6 feet) with a 6.7-inch overall case length and a 3/8-24 UNF threaded housing, providing secure installation in confined spaces. The 3300 XL 8 mm probe operates reliably across an extreme temperature range from -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F) and is certified to CSA, ATEX, and IECEx standards, making it suitable for hazardous environments. With a linear range of 2 mm (80 mils), output resistance of 50 Ω, and minimal supply sensitivity (less than 2 mV per volt), this probe ensures stable, accurate measurements even under fluctuating electrical conditions.
Mechanically robust, the probe uses patented TipLoc molding to strengthen the bond between the probe tip and body and CableLoc technology to secure the probe cable with 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength. Optional FluidLoc cabling prevents oil or process fluids from leaking through the cable interior, maintaining signal integrity and equipment safety. Fully backward-compatible with previous 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm probes and extension cables, the 3300 XL 8 mm probe allows seamless upgrades without recalibration or component matching. This combination of precision, durability, and environmental resistance makes it ideal for high-performance automation applications.
Applications
1. Radial Vibration Monitoring
Accurately monitors radial shaft vibrations on fluid-film bearing machines with shafts up to 51 mm (2 in), enabling early detection of imbalance or misalignment. Linear range: 2 mm ensures precise measurements.
2. Axial (Thrust) Position Measurement
Tracks axial movement of small-diameter shafts and flat targets to prevent excessive thrust loads and maintain bearing longevity in turbines and compressors.
3. Keyphasor Signal Generation
Provides reliable phase reference signals for high-speed machinery, supporting predictive maintenance, synchronous vibration analysis, and shaft speed monitoring.
4. Hazardous Area Deployment
CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certified for safe use in chemical, petrochemical, and offshore facilities, maintaining accuracy and reliability in explosive atmospheres.
5. Space-Constrained Machinery Applications
Designed for reverse mount, side-view, or counter bore installations where larger probes cannot fit, ensuring reliable measurement in limited space environments.
