Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe (330101-00-66-20-02-05) is a high-precision eddy current transducer probe designed for industrial automation applications requiring accurate measurement of both vibration and position on fluid-film bearing machines. Engineered to provide a linear output voltage directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the conductive target surface, this probe supports both static position and dynamic vibration monitoring, making it ideal for predictive maintenance, shaft alignment, and performance monitoring in rotating equipment.
This 8 mm probe comes with a total length of 2.0 meters (6.6 feet) and a 3/8-24 UNF threaded case, allowing secure panel or machinery mounting. Its operating temperature range of -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F) and CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certifications make it suitable for extreme and hazardous environments. The probe’s linear range of 2 mm (80 mils), output resistance of 50 Ω, and minimal supply sensitivity (less than 2 mV per volt) ensure stable and accurate signal transmission, while the Miniature Coaxial ClickLoc connector guarantees a robust connection with the extension cable.
Enhanced mechanical design features include the patented TipLoc molding for a stronger probe tip-to-body bond, and CableLoc technology, providing 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to securely attach the probe cable. Optional FluidLoc cabling prevents leakage of oil or other liquids through the cable interior, further protecting the machine and maintaining signal integrity. Fully compatible and backward-interchangeable with previous 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducers, the 3300 XL 8 mm probe supports seamless system upgrades while eliminating the need for recalibration of individual components.
Applications
1. Radial Vibration Monitoring
Measures radial vibrations on fluid-film bearing machines with a linear range of 2 mm, enabling early detection of imbalance, misalignment, or wear in shafts up to 51 mm (2 in) diameter.
2. Axial Position (Thrust) Measurement
Monitors axial movement on flat or small-diameter shafts to prevent excessive thrust loads, ensuring bearing longevity and reliable operation of compressors and turbines.
3. Keyphasor Signal Generation
Provides high-fidelity phase reference signals for synchronous vibration analysis and shaft speed monitoring, supporting predictive maintenance programs.
4. Hazardous Environment Applications
Certified to CSA, ATEX, and IECEx standards, suitable for explosive atmospheres in chemical plants, refineries, and offshore platforms, ensuring operational safety while maintaining accurate measurements.
5. Compact or Restricted Space Installations
Ideal for applications with limited mounting space where larger probes cannot fit, including side-view, counter bore, or reverse mount configurations, without compromising measurement accuracy.
