Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe (330101-00-28-20-02-05) is a high-performance eddy current sensor designed for industrial automation, machinery condition monitoring, and predictive maintenance. The probe measures the distance between the probe tip and a conductive target and produces a proportional output voltage, providing highly accurate static position and dynamic vibration readings. It is engineered for fluid-film bearing machines, compressors, turbines, and rotating equipment, delivering reliable data for shaft position monitoring, vibration analysis, Keyphasor phase reference, and speed measurement.
This probe has a total length of 2.0 meters (6.6 feet) and a 2.8-inch overall case length, making it suitable for space-constrained installations. The 3/8-24 UNF threaded housing provides secure mounting, while the probe operates across a wide temperature range of -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F). CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals ensure safe deployment in hazardous environments. With a linear range of 2 mm (80 mils), output resistance of 50 Ω, and supply sensitivity of less than 2 mV per volt, the probe guarantees stable and precise signal transmission even in fluctuating electrical conditions.
Mechanically robust, the 3300 XL 8 mm probe features patented TipLoc molding to strengthen the bond between probe tip and body and CableLoc technology, which provides 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to secure the probe cable. Optional FluidLoc cabling prevents oil or process fluids from leaking through the cable interior, maintaining signal integrity and equipment safety. Fully backward-compatible with previous 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm probes and extension cables, it allows seamless upgrades without recalibration or component matching. This combination of accuracy, durability, and environmental resilience makes it ideal for high-performance industrial automation applications.
Applications
1. Radial Vibration Monitoring
Accurately tracks radial vibrations on shafts up to 51 mm (2 in) in diameter. Linear range of 2 mm ensures precise detection of imbalance, misalignment, or bearing wear.
2. Axial (Thrust) Position Monitoring
Monitors axial shaft displacement to prevent excessive thrust loads and extend bearing life in turbines, compressors, and fluid-film machinery.
3. Keyphasor Phase Reference Generation
Provides reliable phase reference signals for high-speed rotating equipment, supporting predictive maintenance, synchronous vibration analysis, and speed measurement.
4. Hazardous Area Deployment
CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certified for safe use in chemical, petrochemical, and offshore facilities, maintaining accurate measurements under hazardous conditions.
5. Space-Constrained Installation
Compact 2.8-inch case and 3/8-24 UNF thread enable installation in reverse mount, counter bore, or side-view applications where larger probes cannot fit.

Competitive Advantage
1. High-Temperature and Harsh Environment Tolerance
Operates from -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F) with full CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals, ensuring reliability in extreme industrial conditions.
2. Mechanically Robust Design
Patented TipLoc and CableLoc technologies provide strong probe tip-to-body and cable attachments with 330 N pull strength, reducing downtime and maintenance.
3. Accurate and Stable Measurements
Linear range of 2 mm combined with supply sensitivity under 2 mV per volt ensures precise, consistent static and dynamic readings.
4. Seamless System Upgrades
Backward-compatible with non-XL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm probes and extension cables, enabling cost-effective system updates without recalibration.
5. Fluid Protection for Long-Term Reliability
Optional FluidLoc cable prevents oil and other fluid ingress through the probe cable, safeguarding signal integrity and protecting sensitive equipment.
