Description
The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe (330101-00-13-15-02-05) is a high-precision eddy current sensor designed for industrial automation and machinery condition monitoring. This probe converts the distance between the probe tip and a conductive target surface into a proportional output voltage, enabling accurate measurement of both static position and dynamic vibration. It is specifically engineered for fluid-film bearing machines, compressors, turbines, and other rotating equipment, delivering reliable performance in predictive maintenance, speed monitoring, and Keyphasor phase reference applications.
Featuring a total length of 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) and a compact 1.3-inch overall case, this probe fits in tight installation spaces. The 3/8-24 UNF threaded housing ensures secure mounting, while the operating range of -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F) allows reliable performance in extreme temperature conditions. CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals make this probe suitable for hazardous environments. The linear range of 2 mm (80 mils) and output resistance of 50 Ω, combined with minimal supply sensitivity (less than 2 mV per volt), ensure stable and precise signal transmission.
Mechanical enhancements include the patented TipLoc molding, providing a strong bond between the probe tip and body, and CableLoc technology, delivering 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength to securely attach the probe cable. Optional FluidLoc cabling prevents leakage of oil or other fluids through the probe cable, protecting both signal quality and machinery. The probe is fully backward-compatible with non-XL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm probes and extension cables, enabling seamless system upgrades without recalibration. This combination of precision, durability, and compatibility makes the 3300 XL 8 mm probe ideal for high-performance industrial automation applications.
Applications
1. Radial Vibration Measurement
Accurately monitors radial shaft vibrations on machinery with shafts up to 51 mm (2 in) in diameter, detecting imbalance or misalignment before they lead to mechanical failure. Linear range: 2 mm ensures high-resolution measurements.
2. Axial (Thrust) Position Monitoring
Tracks axial movement on fluid-film bearings and small-diameter shafts, preventing excessive thrust loads and enhancing bearing life in compressors and turbines.
3. Keyphasor and Speed Monitoring
Provides precise phase reference signals for high-speed shaft monitoring, enabling predictive maintenance, early fault detection, and vibration analysis.
4. Hazardous Area Applications
Certified CSA, ATEX, and IECEx for safe deployment in chemical, petrochemical, and offshore installations, ensuring reliable measurement in explosive atmospheres.
5. Compact Installation and Space-Limited Areas
Designed for restricted spaces, including side-view, counter bore, or reverse mount applications, where larger probes cannot be installed without compromising performance.
