Description
The 31000-28-05-50-050-03-02 Proximity Probe Housing Assembly is engineered for precision industrial automation and vibration monitoring systems, providing a robust mounting solution for radially installed 3300 XL proximity probes. Designed to be mounted through the machine case, this assembly enables external access to the probe and its extension cable, allowing gap adjustment, inspection, or replacement without disassembly of the machine, which improves maintenance efficiency and reduces downtime.
Constructed from glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic with conductive fibers, the housing delivers exceptional mechanical strength and chemical resistance, while stainless steel components—AISI 303 and 304—ensure corrosion resistance in harsh industrial environments. With Type 4X CSA certification, this housing provides protection against dust and water ingress, and its configuration meets API 670 standards for externally mounted probe housings. Optional conduit fittings and integrated standoff adapters with 3/4-14 NPT or 1/2-14 NPT reducers allow flexible installation in both standard and hazardous areas. The assembly supports 3300 XL 8 mm probes with multiple approvals, a probe cable length of 0.5 m (20 in), and penetration depth of 5 in, making it suitable for predictive maintenance, automated monitoring, and Keyphasor signal acquisition.
Applications
Application 1: Radial Vibration Monitoring
Used in rotating machinery such as turbines, compressors, and generators. The housing allows precise gap adjustment of the 3300 XL probe to measure radial vibration amplitudes up to ±2 mm with high linearity.
Application 2: Keyphasor Signal Integration
Supports phase reference measurements by securing the probe in optimal alignment with the shaft, ensuring accurate speed and rotational position feedback for automated control systems.
Application 3: Maintenance-Friendly Probe Access
The housing assembly provides external access to the probe and cable, enabling quick replacement or calibration without shutting down machinery, reducing planned maintenance downtime by up to 30%.
Application 4: Corrosive or High-Temperature Environments
Glass-reinforced PPS and stainless steel construction allows the housing to withstand extreme temperatures (-39°C to 115°C) and chemical exposure, making it suitable for petrochemical and process industries.
Application 5: Hazardous Area Monitoring
When installed with appropriate I.S. barriers, the housing supports intrinsically safe operation in Class I, Division 1 hazardous areas, ensuring automation systems remain compliant with safety regulations.
