Description

The 190501-12-00-00 Velomitor CT Velocity Transducer is a precision piezoelectric sensor engineered for accurate measurement of casing vibration velocity in industrial machinery, particularly cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies. Designed for low-frequency applications, it reliably detects vibration velocities in fans operating from 90 rpm up to 300 rpm, while also capturing higher frequency vibrations from motor and speed reducer interactions. The sensor provides a sensitivity of 3.94 mV/mm/s (100 mV/in/s) ±5% with a frequency response of 3 Hz to 900 Hz ±1 dB or 1.5 Hz to 1 kHz ±3 dB, ensuring precise dynamic monitoring across a wide operational spectrum. Constructed from 316L stainless steel with a MIL-C-5015 2-pin connector, it delivers durability in harsh industrial environments. The Velomitor CT can be mounted in any orientation on a 33 mm diameter surface, with mounting torque of 4.5 N-m ±0.6 N-m. It operates reliably in temperatures from –40°C to +85°C (–40°F to +185°F) and can withstand 5000 g shock, 100% condensing humidity, and extended storage conditions, making it ideal for long-term vibration monitoring in automated systems. Its robust design ensures high repeatability, low temperature sensitivity (–8% to +5%), and consistent output for integration with industrial monitoring and automation systems.

Applications

Cooling Tower Fan Vibration Monitoring
Measures low-frequency vibration velocities of cooling tower fans operating at 100–300 rpm, enabling predictive maintenance and reducing mechanical failures.

Air-Cooled Heat-Exchanger Fan Surveillance
Captures vibration patterns from fan motors and speed reducers, allowing precise monitoring of heat exchanger performance and energy efficiency.

Industrial Fan Condition Monitoring
Integrates with automated monitoring systems to detect misalignment, imbalance, or bearing wear in large industrial fan assemblies.

Automated Control Feedback Systems
Provides real-time vibration data to PLCs or DCS systems, supporting automated fan speed control and early fault detection.

Research and Development Testing
Used in laboratory and field testing to validate vibration models, fan designs, or mechanical modifications in cooling and HVAC systems.
