Description
The Bently Nevada 3500/50 Tachometer Module is a 2-channel speed monitor designed for industrial automation. The 3500/50 accepts up to two proximity probe or magnetic pickup signals, with input ranges from +10 V to -24 V and 20 kΩ standard impedance. It delivers conditioned Keyphasor outputs via coaxial connectors and supports 24 Vdc transducer power per channel. The module provides 4–20 mA recorder outputs with 0.3662 µA resolution and updates every 100 ms. Peak hold records highest speed and reverse rotations, while alarms trigger on speed, acceleration, zero speed, or reverse rotation. Rack space usage is 1 full-height front slot for the module and 1 rear slot for I/O. The 3500/50 is configured with 3500 Rack Configuration software and enables automated speed and rotor monitoring, making it ideal for industrial control systems.
Applications
Monitor Shaft Speed in Rotating Machinery
The 3500/50 accepts up to two transducer signals from proximity probes or magnetic pickups with +10 V to -24 V input range and 20 kΩ input impedance (40 kΩ for TMR, 7.15 kΩ for internal barrier). This enables the 3500/50 to measure shaft speed precisely in pumps, compressors, and turbines, with real-time 100 ms update rate for automation control.
Detect Rotor Acceleration and Deceleration
With its 2-channel input, the 3500/50 calculates rotor acceleration and triggers alarms when setpoints are exceeded. The module can monitor acceleration thresholds and reverse rotations, storing peak reverse speed or number of reversals for later analysis.
Provide Conditioned Keyphasor Signals
The 3500/50 delivers conditioned Keyphasor outputs via 550 Ω coaxial connectors per channel. These signals feed other 3500 rack monitors, reducing the need for separate Keyphasor modules and simplifying automated monitoring setups.
Generate Automated Alarm Signals
Configured through 3500 Rack Configuration software, the 3500/50 triggers alarms for speed, zero speed, rotor acceleration, or reverse rotation. It outputs 4–20 mA signals across 0–600 Ω loads with ±0.25% error at room temperature and ±0.7% over full temperature range.

Competitive Advantage
Direct Connection to Proximity Probes and Magnetic Pickups
The 3500/50 supports 1–2 transducers per module, with 24 Vdc, 40 mA per channel, providing direct measurement without extra interface modules, simplifying installation in automation systems.
Fast and Accurate Signal Output
The 3500/50 provides 4–20 mA recorder outputs with 0.3662 µA per bit resolution and a 100 ms update rate, ensuring precise rotor speed and acceleration data for automated process control.
Efficient Rack Integration
Only 1 full-height front slot is needed for the 3500/50 monitor module, with 1 full-height rear slot for I/O modules, optimizing rack space in industrial automation systems.
